Anyone used any of their ammo ?
http://www.thehuntingshack.com

Cableas carries the 50bmg (2x good reviews)

I'll have to buy more feedstock for my 223 and 308 soon Smiley

Wondering how accurate it was.. I had seen it reviewed on another site (said quality had improved a lot and it was almost as good/comparable to Black hills etc now)

Also wonder what brass they use for new and fired...

I have used HSM for both 10mm and .223. The 10mm was a steal - 500 rds for 90 bucks. That was when factory stuff was 25$ per 50. It's all reloaded stuff, but shoots great out of my Glock 20C.

The .223 I bought was the once-fired - mostly LC headstamps. Accurate enough out of my RRA AR-15. I read somewhere that it is loaded to about the same as American Eagle.....but have no idea if that is true or not. Either way, I have not had a problem with either caliber I bought from them.

Seems to be as accurate in my AR as American Eagle. I haven't compared it to Black Hills yet as I have only a single box of Black Hills that I nabbed before prices jumped.

HSM Ammo

Bought a promo of 500 rnds of .22 wmr from Cabelas they advertised as bulk Winnie in ammo can. Came as orange brick of HSM. Queried Cabela as the cartridge was headstamped same as Armscor from Philippines. They said was sold under license to Winnie:confused: and gave me same ballistics as standard hi velocity .22 wmr. So far they have shot well and reliably in my marlin M922m.
YMMV

The dept. I work for uses HSM ammo for qualifications. This is in several different calibers. 38spec, 9mm and also .223. Out of all the rounds we have fired count in the 10's of thousands I cannot recall a single fail to fire. This is decent training and shooting ammo.

I have shot some of there 223. It was good stuff out of my savage, now i have a ar so ill probably get more.

I live right down the road also, but didnt know I could go direct.
.41magsnub, could you shoot me a pm on how to get in on going direct to them.

thanks

We placed an order for 10k of .223 from them. 6 months later we got 5k....

So, they are very backlogged. Haven't shot up any of their stuff yet though.

Here's an email I got from them after we recieved our order:

Hey, this is Misty, I just wanted to keep in touch with you and let you know that Darren Newsom is no longer with The Hunting Shack. After 20 years of working with them he has decided that it is time to open up his own company. Along with him came a loyal team of highly trained employees. Due to the high demand for ammunition and it's components, Darren felt that by opening his own company it would greatly help the industry. As of January the 2nd, Bitterroot Valley Ammunition and Components (BVAC) will officially be open, we will have a list of products and prices for you by that date. If you have any other questions contact Darren Newsom or myself at this e-mail address. We currently have a business website that is being worked on at this time, you can view it at www.bvac-ammo.com. You can also reach us at our new number, (406)273-9140 or 273-9150. Thank you for your time and we hope to hear from you soon.
