i am looking for a new shotgun

for home defence and range use... only.....
i want to spend $400 and under.. i had a moss 590 which craped out on me
after 250 rds

i need a soild built long lasting shotgun any hints?....
i want to be able to have this gun for years and be-able to use it lots of time and 100's of rds

i want 18"5 or 20" barrel

Saiga-12

5-round removable magazine standard, 8rd and 10 rd available.
Excellent reliability.

Go find a good used 870, and add the barrel of your choice. Should come in well under your budget and will definitely fill the bill.

lpl/nc

The 590 is one of Mossberg's "Serious Duty" shotguns, surprised it would 'crap out' after only 250 rounds...but any company will sometimes let out a lemon.

My next 2 recomendations, in no particular order would be the Rem 870, or an Ithaca.

i took apart the gun i mean striped it down took out the trigger ok
cleaned everything... now i got the gun working great ok took it to the range and shot one rd and that was it ....... didnt cycle after that ... the shell always gets stuck in the barrel even thow the barrle is clean and ready to go....

Doesn't Mossberg have a ten year warranty? maybe they can fix it for you. After that , if you still don't want it , you can sell it to offset the cost of the new gun. Anyway, many on this board say the Remington 870 is indestructible. you might want to give one of those a try. Sure hope I have better luck with my new mossy 500. BTW, someone on this board might be able to tell you how to check the extractor.
