I can't find any!!! :banghead:

I have recently been bequethed a couple of new to me handguns - a **MINT** Commander 1911 Colt in 38 SUPER  , a really old, chromed (unoriginal methinks) finished 5 shot S&W hammerless snubby with a grip safety in .38 S&W, and some sort of a FRENCH :what: military revolver with a hexagonial barrel that I need to post in the Firearms Research section before I go any further with it.

I need some practice ammo for these pistols - I'd like to start maybe carrying the 1911. It's certainly more comfy to me than my Sig 229 - it seems like it anyway. But, I absolutely cannot afford to "shake them down" with Cor-bon @ 17.99 per 20 on the SUPER, and over $20 per 50 for the 38 S&W. My girlfriend is actually wanting to maybe carry S&W revolver if I can get some ammo for her to get some trigger time, so I am VERY interested in doing that!!!

Does anyone make this stuff anymore??? I am having one hell of a time locating it. Ammoman doesn't have it. Cheaperthandirt didn't last time I checked. Anyone have a source, and a good price???

BTW, I also got a Luger handed down to me at the same time. Ammo has been pretty easy to come by for that one - BUT, there's always a catch, right? I had to buy mag's on eBay - somehow, the mags had gotten lost between my Mom and me.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Keith

http://www.outdoormarksman.com seems to have some .38 super.

.38 S&W is an older cartridge and it's pretty much phased out due to the .38 special.

.38 super and S&W are prime reloading candidates though. All the guys I know who shot .38 super, including one of my cousins that used to shoot IPSC, used strictly reloads.

I'm only going to look at Natchez, since they're who I usually buy my ammo from.

It looks like Winchester still makes .38 S&W in their Super-X line, but it's not cheap ($19.75 for 50).

Remington UMC .38 Super looks to be $8.74 for 50.

And, looks like we're still look at close to 20 bucks for Remington's .38 S&W.

Looks like the Super might be worth buying ammo for, but you're going to have to reload to get any serious use out of the .38 S&W.

I don't know about the .38 S&W ammo, but I buy either Winchester, Remington UMC, or American Eagle .38 Super ammo from Sportsman's Wearhouse, Gart Sports, WalMart, or Cal Farm and Ranch Supply Stores. It's not hard to find and runs somewhere between $8.50 and $10.00 per box of 50. :)
