I Bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk today and got some vintage ammo with it. The ammo seems to have been bought in the US (maybe Canada? Some place with dollars in use, it has price tags from "Atlantic Guns" etc).

Pricetag for a 20 round box of S&W 240gr HP is $6.92 ...
about 35c per cartridge.

Winchester 240gr hollow point SP is $8.65 for a box of 20.
43c per cartridge.

Today, in Finland a box of 50 Magtech 240gr SPs is 30€, or $41.3. About 83c US per cartridge.

Needless to say, I handload nowadays.

Magtech ammo is usually a little less, but a box of 50 Winchester or Remington .44 Mag would probably be close to US $50, so that price is not too bad.

There were some loadings for rifle, Ruger carbines, so be sure what the old stuff is.

Good luck with your gun!

No luck needed it seems to be in fine order. Made in 1979 according to Ruger's serial number table. Dragoon style trigger guard, 7.5" barrel. Wooden grips (preferred) and Pachmayr rubber gribs (fugly and uncomfortable). Came with a leather holster that also seems to hold the Single Six rather nicely. I tried some double action S&Ws in it (17,586,29) and they would not fit.

There are two Atlantic Guns, one in Rockville Maryland and other one in Silver Springs MD

Looks like you did all right with your Ruger Super Blackhawk. The holster you have shown looks to be like the kind Hunter Holster use to make. Relatively inexpensive but very serviceable. Enjoy your new .44 Mag.
