...I'm a big believer in defeating any attempt to renew or expand AWB.

However, while fighting for its expiration, I stocked up.

Are you stocking up?

Waiting for prices to drop?

Still debating?

I'm on the fence, since I spent too much on full caps way back when and am still waiting to get the guns they go to. I did pick up some CZ-75 fullcaps cheap a few months back.

In CA, high cap mags cannot be bought, traded, sold or given away :( Being a resident of CA, I have little hope of seeing mags that hold more than 10 rounds or those evil assault weapons available for civilian consumption.

*shrug*

the only gun I own that is designed for >10rd mags is my Hi-Power.

I have three full caps for it that I got with the gun.

If the AWB sunsets I might get some more.

I dont' really need any more.
I have a minimum of six for every gun I own that uses them.
On the ones that I shoot frequently I have more than that, for some a lot more.

Dorrin,

CDNN carries the KRD 15 and 17 BHP mags for under $20 a pop. These are good, reliable magazines. I have a couple 17 rounders for my BHP Practical and will probably pick up a couple more.

Where's the option for "None of my autos use magazines that hold more than 7 to 9 rounds"?
:D

To register to vote in this poll, one must have an interest in magazines that exceed the limits as signed into law by William Jefferson Clinton. :neener:

The .40 Hi-Power was designed for 11 round mags originally. They should go to 11 rounds after the ban. Mec-Gar might make some 12 rounders if you .40 Hi-Power owners are lucky.

I'm not going to go overboard, but I am buying full cap mags for the guns that I have that use them.
I figure that I will most likely not wear out any of them with the amount of shooting I do.
Most of my ammo goes through my P-225 and my Mosin Nagants, neither of which is affected by the mag ban. I put wear on them and let the stuff that might be hard to replace hold sort of a reserve status. I do shoot the AK and my CZ-75BD enough to be very familiar with them though.
So yes, I am getting while the getting is good.
Even back in the day you couldn't get a FAL for $600, so I am still in the good, assuming that mine gets here soon. :(
A CZ-75BD only goes for around $350 and hi-caps cost me about $40 each so I got a few.
At the very least, even if the ban stays and you can't get hi-caps in the future, I will have good weapons and enough mags to last me a lifetime of shooting.

Likely then only gun deal I *Think* I did well on. Bought a bunch of Glock Hi-Caps for 40-$60 a few years back. Went a different direction and sold them for $75+ each about a year ago. Just could not mentally deal with the fact my investment in mags were WAY over the cost of the actual guns...

Recently bought 5 USGI Beretta Mags for $100. Figured I could not really lose on that deal...

Actually your mistaken on this. I saw plenty of 40 highpowers before the ban and the gun is designed around a 10 round mag not an 11 round mag. You may be thinking of the Beretta 96 in 40sw its designed around an 11 round mag.

How about option:

d) I cannot buy or import magazines into my state as that would be a felony.

That's the status for citizens of CA - unless you have grandfathered mags (bought before 2000).

re:goon

In addition to my factory high caps, I've purchased a few $14 high caps for my CZ-75B from Cheaperthandirt.com...they got good press over at the CZFORUM and I've been quite pleased so far.

Best wishes,

CZ52GUY - Are those factory mags? That is an incredible price if they are.
Even if they aren't it still might be a good idea to get a couple to save wear on my factory mags.

I think I read they weren't factory on CZforum, but they were pretty reliable nonetheless.

re: CTD Mag's

These are to be sure AFTER MARKET mag's.

That being said, they are getting good press at CZFORUM from folks that have been using them longer than me.

I've got two with about 75 rounds each through them (a single range session)...so I have no "durability" intelligence.

However, they loaded and cycled perfectly giving no indication that there was some fundamental issue as delivered. Could there be a problem with wear over time? Absolutely...they need to prove themselves over some extended period before I would trust them for "serious matters". However, at $14, I thought they were worth the gamble...if nothing else, to allow for full-cap drills without using my factory full-cap mag's to extend their life.

I'd recommend you give them a try...start with a couple, and see what you think.

Good luck!

I hate to be a pessimist, but I am sort of accumulating hi-caps. I don't know why but in the court of public opinion, I think we will loose the hi-cap battle. Even though we are dedicated and willing, I still think we will loose. For this reason I am accumulating a few important ones to me. 15 grn G20 mags mainly.

When I look at my collection though, very few of them are classified as hi-caps. For me it is just the G20, Witness 40, 229 sport, Beretta 96, Beretta 84 (that I can think of). Most of them I have at least 6 to 8 "10 rnd +" magazines.

The one I am fighting for is my M1A's. Those 20 rnders are getting harder to find in good shape and it really ticks me off to pay $65 for a nice one. (Although I have over 20 of them saved, more is always better).

Why I decided to stock up...

...because in the end, it didn't seem to make sense for me to wait because of my circumstances...by weapon (including long guns):

3-AK's - bought a bunch of high caps because even if AWB expires...they are still stigmatized as evil-looking military style rifles and import restrictions could cause the supply of new mag's to dry up...I have enough to make Burt Grummer proud ;) .

PC9 - Not really an ideal HD weapon, but ya' never know...I got 3 - 20's (Mec-Gar's)...one for gun, 2 for Buttstock pouch...price difference between the 20's and factory 10's not that great all things considered.

P95DC - My best information is that Ruger has no intention of offering Full Cap's to civie's regardless of what happens with AWB - similar to PC9...the price per round difference between full cap and Brady Cap isn't that great.

BDA-380 - Got another one to add up to 4...this is the wife's piece...not sure how much longer I'll be able to get stuff for it...they are getting more and more rare.

CZ-75B - Went the after-market route $14 CTD mag's described above...had already stocked up on factory full caps...the CTD's if nothing else, should extend the life of my Factory mag's.

Arcus 98DAC - uses BHP mag's...I've had good luck with "seasoned" KRD's so far...less than $20 per...I'm not sure if the price will drop that much if AWB sunsets.

Glock 23 - This was a tough one...but I decided to get some brand new NDF for $49 from Kiesler's...I'll probably wish I waited for cheap DF FML ones but this is my "ya' can't touch this Chuck/Diane/Hillary/Frank/Rosie" investment.

Glock 22 - See Glock 23.

I probably overpaid (I did overpay) on the Glock NDF mag's...but they at least are brand new...and I'm now "fully stocked"...the others, when comparing price per round to get to the same total capacity in gun and pouches wasn't that big a difference.

To each his/her own way...

Let's hope it sunsets AND that we can reverse the trend for our brother/sisters who live in 2nd Amendment infringing states that have their own bans to deal with.
