Sorry to hear about your mistake ;)

I almost made the mistake of buying a 1911 last week. :uhoh:

It was a Kimber Stainless Covert. Luckily the guy selling it was asking way to much for it. He wanted $1000 for a used Kimber. No thanks

Oh no....

I've been thinking of purchasing a H&K p2000 for a while. But reading this thread has made me think about looking at a 1911. Have to see how it goes....

Okay those who know and love me know that I am NOT a 1911 kind of guy. Often were the times when I would watch a guy with a $1000.00 plus 1911 in the lane next to me cursing under his breath as he cleared yet another malfunction. Meanwhile I would happily, even maliciously keep shooting my trusty Sig 228, 229 or Glock 30. I would then tell the guy next to me:

"Say that's a nice gun."

He'd answer "Yeah, but it needs this or that or it doesn't like this ammo..."whatever the excuse for the week was.

I would then gleefully answer "Gee, that's too bad. I could only afford a Glock"....or Sig or whatever I was shooting...."but I must have gotten a good one because it's never jammed." I would be rolling in laughter on the inside, after all, I, in my higher intellect chose a no-nonsense gun that goes bang everytime and puts little pieces of lead where little pieces of paper used to be.

Alas, I have owned one particular Sig 228 for over a year now that I have never even fired because I love my West German so much, so I took it out and to my horror I could barely shoot with the thing because the trigger seemd to stack in SA, (odd for a Sig) and it had a #8 front sight, I use a #6 on everything. So I put it away thinking trigger job and new front sight. I take my brother to my favorite gun shop and see a Springfield GI Champion with an alloy frame....now a GI with an alloy frame was odd so I asked to see it....it was tight as a snare drum, very light weight, so narrow and fit my hand...like most 1911's do. As a joke I told them about my Sig and said "boy I sure wish I had this thing instead" and the guy wanted to trade. I broke into a cold sweat, eyed the gun, eyed my Sig...the only Sig I've owned that I never shot until that day.....the only Sig I owned that worked that I didn't like. My eyes were burning and my hands got sweaty, I said "deal" in a weak and unsure voice....after all this was a 1911, the bane of reliability...the horror, the humanity......

I took it to the range with 230 gr. ball ammo and lo and behold I could just about perform surgery with this thing. I put 8 rounds EIGHT ROUNDS through ONE (numero uno) hole you could cover with a quarter at 21 feet. I only shoot my Glock 30 and 229 like that....and only on a good day. I couldn't believe it. I kept shooting and was able to get similar results time and time again. The only problem is that it shoots about 1 to 1 1/2 inches to the left, even 2 to 3 inches depending upon my grip. I think it is the trigger since it is too small for my giaganto hands...so I think the only mod I'm going to make is a long or longer trigger.

I must admit, the gun is so narrow, so accurate and since it is a GI it has a "I mean business, I'm here to work not impress your yacht buddies" appearance.

I'm smitten...I'm even thinking of getting another one......Ahhhhhhhhhcccraaaaapppppp!!!!!
Another one to the darkside! Bwahahahahaha!!!(Evil laughter:evil: )

i own a single 1911 ...

it is in storage ... never to see the light of day again...
there are just too many good idiotproof firearms out there to limt yourself to a single brand/platform...:neener:
