Boughtmy Home defense shotgun! A Stoger Uplander 20 ga with removeble chokes ans double triggers.
The BBL is a tad long (26") but with a double it is still compact. I chose the 20ga becaus e both the Wife and I have bad sholders and lifting and racking a bigger 12 pump might be painfull? The Uplander is light (7lbs) but just heavy enough to soak recoil up.
Loads will be #4 or #6 indoors and #3 Buck for fighting. Even the #3 Buck won't overpenetrate and I think it'll be a good all round load. I can't wait to pattern the Buck with the different chokes!
Question?
Somewhere I read that you pattern for 15 yards and add an extra yard. Then you should be able to keep 70% on a 3"x5" Index card.
Does that make sense?
Seems like a really tight pattern to me!
I need to pattern to see the spreads,
I now have I/C and Mod in there and will see how wide they are...
Thanks for all the help and guidance you all have given me! It really helped choose what's right for us!
