My friend at work bought it, for a little more than he should have to boot. Man, that trigger is atrocious. I gave him a printout from a thread here about a guy who does trigger jobs, maybe he will get it done.

But hey, it did go through 250 rounds without any problems he said.

How he went from wanting a USP, or a Glock, to a Sigma is beyond me though...

If it keeps on working though, that would be cool. And he likes how it looks, so at least he is happy.

The gun is working and your friend is happy. Sounds like he has a good gun. The Sigma does not have the super reputation the Glock seems to have with so many folks but it is a reliable and affordable gun. Also if your friend does have problems he has a great customer service group to back up the gun. I am a big S and W fan but not of the sigma but the Sigma's aside from the terrible trigger are good guns, at least the later enhanced models.

first model sigma

i owned one of the first sigmas in .40cal when they first came out.and it was a great gun,but the new models are made very poorly, and the trigers i think suck.

really thats odd all I hear online is the first pistol sucked departments ditched them. trigger pull sucks, though newer models are made better reports saying they are more reliable. trigger still sucks but someone does work on them and supposedly does a excellent job though costly.

Trigger ain't any worse than my PPK/S!!!!!

Yeah, I think the trigger was maybe slightly better than the full double action of the PPK/s. :D

I have to print out that S&W form for him too so he can get some mags for it.

US Customs used to carry the Sigma in 9mm. They went to Glocks because of all the problems. Cracked slides etc.

I too got one of the first .40 Sigmas, and have fired maybe 500 rounds with no malfunctions. But I have never been able to hit with it. There is something about that trigger when the firing pin releases that moves the gun off target, and I have not been able to stop it. A Glock does not do that, and I have been told the new Sigmas don't either. Anyway, I had it for HD for a while and then went to a Colt .45, vintage 1941.

ok ive had this sw40ve for a month now
ive got over 500 rounds thru it
no problems
no failures to feed
no stovepipes
no failures to fire
and pretty accurate to the limits of the range (50 feet)
10 line review
pros
cheap
accurate
reliable
no safeties yet safe to keep loaded
light
great ergonomics
good looking
wife can handle it (actually its her gun)
free full capacity magazines now (last month) till december
cons
heavy trigger new it was like 450 lbs

now
i put in a reduced spring (wolff dont order cod $4 spring cost me 17.65)
and polished the sheer and some adjoining metal trigger pull is decent

ive fired wal mart winchester target loads magtech corbon glaser reminton
and nothing EVER has ftf or fte
you pull the trigger it goes bang
i give this gun a 4 out of 5 *
improve the trigger on the dao action and it gets a 5 out of 5
just my 289.00 worth of opinion

Well, all things considered...the point is that at least he has some sort of personal protection in a firearm, even if it may be a little below the bar. I have no personal experience in that gun myself. I am just proud to have him in the community as a gun owner. Tell him to get some training!

He already had a Colt 1991 parkarized model... I think that one should get first call... :D

How he went from wanting a USP, or a Glock, to a Sigma is beyond me though...

It probably went something like this:

"How much for that USP?"

"Really? Hmm, How about that Glock?"

"I See. Lemme see that Sigma...."

:D

here's what i think of sigma:barf: it's a wanabe glock. just like the XD. people keep trying to convince me that glocks are not the best general handguns out there. if this be the case, why are so many manufactures trying to copy them? everybody wants a glock but nobody wants a glock.

My $1.95:

The construction of Glocks and their design are sound, however the grip is atrocious and the trigger is spongy. I want a Glock, but not quite... so what does that leave?

Springfield XDs, Steyr M9s/MA1s, and... the Sigma. If ya want you can throw in the FN Forty-Nine too.

sigma

ok flame on
i love my sigma and for carry you can put the thing in your front pocket with the grip hanging out very comfortable. yeah i know get a holster lol
im getting a ruger kp345r ...why cause basically im an insecure guy with the .40 caliber and my experience with the .45 an my gut feeling is i like the caliber.
i handled one today shot its brother the p90 and i like it. wish the sigma line came in .45 i would own that too

I was unimpressed with the sigma when I fired it. It went bang every time, but that was about it. Accuracy was only so-so and the only way to improve was to sit down and bench rest it.

I definitely prefer my FN Forty-Nine to the Sigma. The Forty-Nine has eaten whatever I have stuffed in the magazine, is very accurate and the ergonomics are better than any other gun I own...including my beloved CZ-75B. They are better than a SA 1911 TRP I got to shoot.
The smooth sides make carry easy and comfortable and the trigger, though heavy, is VERY consistent and doesn't stack up at all. I'd suggest the FN over the Sigma every day of the week. The only thing that bothers me is the clowns at the range who snicker when I pull it out. They ask about my Sigma, but get a surprise when they see the FN logo on the case.
:neener: ha says I!!!
