Anyone CCW a S&W Sigma?

I shot with a friend the other night, he has a Sigma in .40. I would probably get one in 9mm since I have a 1911 currently and need to offset the cost of buying 45acp. Does anyone conceal carry a Sigma? I know about the trigger issues some have with these and am not asking about that more about the ability or lack there of to carry this gun frequently in a concealed scenario. Also any info on how you carry it. Thanks in advance....

Interesting idea... they are SUPER cheap here, i'd probably want to get one. But i think I'd need a 1911 to round out my little collection.

They are about the same size and shape as a Glock 19. Lots of people CCW a G19.

As stated, most glock 19 holsters should fit a Sigma. I don't think I'd really be against carrying mine. Break in the trigger and then think of it as a DA revolver. New models are reliable, and have been for the past several years.

Generally too large for me to use as CCW, but I got mine to be a "truck gun" rides nicely in the center console. Cheap and reliable, tough to beat for this purpose. The trigger is not so bad if you are coming from shooting revolvers.

yes. I have a fobus paddle holster for it, designated HK-1 but it's for glocks. frame geometries are nearly identical. It's not uncomfortable and it's readily concealed under most any jacket. It is a little on the large side but whatever.

well supposedly Glock did sue SW over the similarity's of the glock and Sigma... it settled out of court for an undisclosed sum i believe

At the risk of hijacking your thread, can anyone point to a site where a good synopsis of the trigger modification can be found. I've done a pretty thorough search but can't seem to find one that's got decent pictures and more than a cursory description of what to do and how to do it..

THere isn't a whole lot you can do to lighten it. The main effort involves changing to Wolf springs on the striker and guide rod, but that'll only lighten it down to 10 lbs or so.
Every effort I've ever read about involving trying to lighten further by grinding it has ended in an unreliable gun.

Somebody over at Glocktalk, of all places, pointed me to this one: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=400180 which has to be one of the better ones I've seen. I haven't tried it myself. I'm willing to leave the gun as is and master the trigger in a time-honored fashion (practice and a good amount of ammo).

On topic, I use a Don Hume H715M IWB. Works well. As with any service sized gun, you have to take a bit more care with what you are wearing, but it's not hard to do.

I CCW my Sigma .40, as I do virtualy everything - in a Milt Sparks Versa-Max II holster. This holster also does yeoman's duty with my S&W 10XX series pistols.

I had an early model sigma series 380 that was a mess. The gun would jam with almost every magazine. It was not comfortable to shoot. Not to mention I couldn't hit the broad side of a box with it. And Im a pretty good shot. I would recommend trying one out before you make a decision. Again this was in the mid nineties and it was a 380 so they may be okay now. Best of luck.

The 380 Sigma was a completely different design made to resemble the service sized Sigma pistols. Most didn't like having to punch out a pin to disasssembly. The fact that the slide was some sort of zince alloy didn't sit too well either. I'm not going to mention the reaction the limited service life got. Probably one of S&W's worst moves in recent memory. There was also a 9mm compact that was equally pathetic.

Now I just have to summon up the stones to take the pistol apart and hope that I can get 'er back together.

I've never done a full disassmbly, but if they're as much a copy of the Glock as everyone says, you won't have trouble. There is at least one disassembly video out there. Might be a good idea to get a copy.

Been carrying my 40V around the ranch and when going to the city. When we're out and about in city duds I drop down to the (little) Bersa 380 since it is almost invisible with city clothing.

I bought 2 ve's last month and have already sold them. Shot it once and decided it was worthless and traded them for M&P's, much better weapon's. They both shot 8 inch's low and 5 inches left from a Ransome rest. Had hard time even getting them on paper from bench rest. Thought it was me and set up the Ransome. Had 3 stove pipes and two failure to extract in first hundred round. I for one would not carry them. I'll stick with my Glock for carry.
