Well, boredom led me to building a pistol, which I never thought I'd do. I started out using a carbon fiber lower from New Frontiers, a generic slick side upper from MAS Defense, MagPul SL handguards and a KAK Shockwave Blade with the Blade buffer tube.

This was the first attempt at what I thought I wanted...https://photos.app.goo.gl/bnZ1u6nL7nuPoY9m7

I took it out and ran a bunch of rounds through it over the last week or two and decided that I liked it, but wanted to change a couple of things.

This is what it looks like now...https://photos.app.goo.gl/JUV797GG47CjaoNe8

I decided that I liked it so much that it deserved the good stuff.

Parts list...

1. Muzzle device is a Kaw Valley linear comp. It's on there for now, but I'm shopping for another muzzle device.

2. Barrel is a 10.5" Ballistic Advantage, modern. It was dirt cheap and I read good things about them.

3.Front sight/gas block is a Yankee Hill flip up.

4. Handguards are run of the mill MOE. I decided to take the SL handguards off. I didn't like how tall they were and the standard handguards have the hand stop in a better spot for me. I guess I could have added a brace of some sort, but I prefer not to hang stuff off of my AR unless I need it.

5. BCG is BCM.

6. The upper is a Daniel Defense. Man, you really forget what a difference a good receiver can make in terms of fit. The barrel extension was a nice tight fit into the upper and the feed ramps on the extension matched up with those on the upper as though they were cut at the same time.

7. The lower is a Spike's low shelf. I'll make use of that one of these days. I like the Spider and they make good stuff.

8. MagPul back up rear sight.

9. Optic is a Trijicon TA44 1.5X ACOG.

10. Standard Mil Spec buffer spring.

11. Spike's ST-T2 buffer, because I have a few of them and they work as well as any other H2 buffer.

12. Buffer tube is a Phase 5 Hex tube. This one actually has a provision to keep SB braces from moving too much.

13. Brace is an SB Tactical Mini. This went right in line with my minimalist build and it's much more comfortable than the Blade.

14. FCG is Geissele SSA-E. I'm really fond of these.

15. Grip is a MagPul K2. These are nice for short LOP setups. Much more comfortable.

Geez, and it went on and on. I stripped my 14.5 build. I took the 14.5" 1:9 twist barrel, threw that into the MAS Defense generic upper and went with a shorter, lighter free float tube and slapped my CMMG .22 conversion into it. Then I put the carbon fiber lower together, stuffed a rifle length recoil spring in the buffer tube with a standard buffer and topped it off with a bore buddy. This is going to serve as my dedicated .22 build until Right to Bear Arms has barrels in stock again. I just need to do something about this monster of a UBR stock I have on it right now. I couldn't go with anything lighter because, of all things, I didn't have another castle nut laying around.

And then, I found a 16" PSA barrel that I ordered like two years ago, and never used, and a rail. So...I dug through all of my crap and found an upper so I threw that together. Now I gotta go digging some more. I think I remember having one of those ugly Vltor lowers that looks like it's billet. Gotta find a castle nut, so I can put that UBR on this thing.

Man, this corona thing has to end soon or I'm gonna become one of those guys posting pictures of myself in my underwear in bed surrounded by all of my guns.

Looks good. Many of us are waiting to get out to test new builds.
I found with mine I needed extra weight in the BCG. You will quickly find out if that is the case for you when you test it.

I don’t even like to cut my own vegetables. Too much work to me. I’ve always gone factory built. But if you like to do that’s awesome. Looks like a sweet shooter. Enjoy

I have almost a thousand rounds through it now. It runs good. I'm running an H2 buffer right now, but considering going to an H just to see how it feels.

I don't mind building them. It only takes an hour or so. The hardest part is waiting for all of the parts to come in. It seems that your choice vendors are always out of something that you want.

my son who lives in denver will with a friend build one from parts ordered. he is very excited about it.

Are you gonna go with a pistol or a rifle build? Or an SBR. Optics Planet has some good prices on Faxon and Ballistic Advantage barrels and MAS Defense is blowing out BA barrels too, but their stock is running low. I think they're down to 10.5 and 16" in 5.56.
