I Found a Nice Walther P1 on GB!

I doubt I will be around in 40 years and the kids, while they like shooting occasionally, aren't "into" guns like their Dad.
I'll likely take it out and just enjoy shooting an interesting piece of history. I'll possibly end up getting a P38 WWII vintage
if I can afford one, they have gone up considerably in price compared to their post war cousins.

Very nice examples, thank you for sharing them! Love those slotted grips on the P38!

Hi 5-Shots:

I am not at home this week where the P1 is but yes, the last three digits of the serial on the frame covered here by black are 432. The 7/93 you see is followed by a circle with a dot in it, then "BW" for Bundeswehr, I believe? Perhaps this was issued or re-arsenaled on 07/93 is my impression?
There is a tiny square matching proof mark of some kind on the right side of the front of the frame in front of the trigger guard where the slide and the frame meet right below the barrel. The same proof mark (tiny square box with a mark or number in it?) is present on the opposite side pictured here of the frame and slide. I'd need a magnifying glass to try to see what's in that box, a number or letter or marking/logo? When I get back home, I'll take a look to see if I can figure out these square proof marks.
I took a closer look at the images and now I see that there is a point after 7, so the marking is 7.93. Yes, at this point I too think the gun was re-arsenaled in July 1993. What was done to it in July '93 is difficult to tell: maybe a simple refinishing.
The square marks you mention should be inspection marks and you may still be able to read a number inside them. As for the circle with a dot, present in the slide and the frame, it is an internal Walther acceptance mark. The mark with the four-pointed star means "reinforced part" (in this case reinforced slide and reinforced disassembly lever). BW means Bundeswehr and may have been applied when the re-arsenal was done in July '93. Have you checked if the barrel is matching too?

Yes, the barrel has the same serial I believe?
