Handsome gun.

There are many opinions on Damascus:
It is a time bomb and should not be used.
It should only be shot with black powder.
It can be shot with appropriate loads of smokeless powder.
It can be shot with whatever you like.

You going to treat it nice or beat it up like you do your other guns?

Yes sir, it's a death trap. People die everyday from shooting those damn-ask-us barrels. But I think you pretty much covered that and everything else.

the DAMN-US BARRELS, when they do let go is mostly out the barrels 10-14 inches where they are thinner. as the pressure curve for smokless powder is longer than black powder and if the welds are bad(used-abuse) they tend to let go there. i have shot good qualty older doubles with damn-us barrels with out a problem(gun smith inspected). fox-parker and L. C smith with shells loaded with black powder and very light smokless. shooting a round of trap with black powder is a hoot, my friend holds a cleaning rod with wet patches and every five shots i hold the gun open and he pushes the wet patchs thru the barrels and on to the next station, he also calls hits and misses. eastbank.
