Just came home with a Para Ordinance P14-45 in SS! It's great to have 15 rounds of 45 in the same mag. I got a really good deal, and then a military discount on top of that (thanks Dury's Guns). Came with 3 mags, too.


Anyone have any experience with these? My only other 1911 is an old (80 yrs) Government model that's still shooting likes it's new.


Off to the range....


Oh, yeah.... I also bought a Browning Challenger III for me and the kid to share :D

congrats on teh new gun, i like the para's i just wish the high cap models fit my hand better, high cap .45 is awesome though, and i always love places that give military discounts!:)
 
Thats a nice looking pistol I dont have a highcap 1911 but i hear they can be fun. Going to a gun show today I may look hard at one. Have fun with it!
 
No, partial length guide rod.

Took them both to the range yesterday and I love them both! The Para is quite accurate (I was getting nice, small holes at 15 yards with 10-14 rounds), and it was very consistant with HSM 230 grain ball. I did have to buy a speed loader for the mag - after about 10 rounds in the mag, it was a PAIN to cram the last few rounds in!

I really liked the Challenger, too! Wonderful pistol - crisp trigger, consistant shooter, nice weight.
 
My 'go to war gun " is a P-14. First thing I did was replace the cast extractor with a Wilson Bulletproof one. Then I replaced the trigger, sear,and hammer with some old/new AMU milsurp parts and got a nice 4.5pound trigger. Then all the springs in gun and magazine were replaced by Wolffe ones. I buffed off any rough spots around reciever ect. with careful light cratex polishiing. Yjen I had Novak Nite sight installed.
I rely on this pistol for numerous 3 day tactical classes and it hasn't let me down in years.
Yours already has good sights, looks like a good triggerand grip safety, maybe hammer was installed. GI guide rod= good! You have the advantage of stainless, which makes polishising things easy, and I think the Para Stainless parts are better than the blued cast ones!
