I got a new shotgun today and it is what I consider, an increasingly rare find. It is a SxS double barrel in the hard to find 20ga. A Western Arms (of Ithaca, NY) Long Range. I had never heard of it before but upon closer inspection it appeared to be of good quality in the range of a Stevens 311 (which I will never stop mentioning). I am quite proud of my purchase and think I got a heck of a deal. If anyone has any info on these guns it would be greatly appreciated.

The real reason why this was such a great find is that this is a 20 gauge. And double triggers and extractors are becoming rare these days.

I figured out it is actually manufactured by Ithaca. It is an economy label of the Ithaca Nitro Special.

Fine gun, rapidly gaining collector status and rightfully so.

Do exercise it regularly.

And congrats!!

They were made by

Ithica gun co., In Ithica new York. They were sold by Montgomery Wards. As you have already stated they are probably in the same league as the Stevens 311. They aren't worth a whole lot but, since Cowboy action shooters have been buying these gun up for the past 15 or so years there prices have gone up to meet demand. Before CAS got popular around here you could buy Winchester 97s for about $100. Now, you are lucky to get a decent one for around $400. Your gun looks to be in pretty nice shape and still has good color case hardening on the receiver. I t would be a fine addition to any cowboys gun cart.:D
