I recently sold my .44 (mainly because it's too big for me to shoot easily and I wanted the money for something else), but the one I had was accurate and reliable enough for me. I had a few malfunctions with it, but I'm pretty sure all but maybe one or two of the malfunctions I experienced were from limp wristing. I'm a girly man.
Deagles get lumped in with tec-9s, MACs, and every other "mall ninja" gun that's popular mainly because of it's looks, and it's not fair, because unlike most ninja guns, DEs are as well made and accurate (if not more so) than rugers, S&W, or any other "quality" manufacturer.
Are they practical? Absolutely not.
Would I carry one for SD? Not unless I was as big as Brock Lesnar.
Are they worth their $1200+ price tag for a new one? Nope, but people will still buy them because they are one the most recognizable and badass handguns ever made. There's only been a few other pistols comparable to the DE, and none of those are in production anymore (AMT, wildey, etc) that I'm aware of. DE's have been made for what, close to three decades now? You don't stay in business that long making a product that cost that much money if it's complete garbage.
Anytime I would take it shooting with other people, that was always the gun everyone wanted to shoot. When I put it up for sale I got more calls on it than any other gun I've ever sold, and most were from people who couldn't afford it but always wanted one and were lowballing or trying to trade me cheap junk
. It's the kinda gun that you can't even pick up without smiling. They're just that awesome, and hopefully I'll have the money to get another one someday...preferably a gold titanium tiger striped one in .50AE
.
People that don't like desert eagles are the same kinda people who don't appreciate muscle cars or breast implants.
It might be an Israeli gun, but it's excessiveness is as American as it gets.
