I was outside working the other day when Mrs. Echo came out with the phone cradled on her shoulder, "... just a sec, let me ask him. Honey, do you want a set of 6mm dies? Steph found them and Warren doesn't reload."

Now, just for the record, I have no need for a set of 6mm dies. No rifle in that caliber, never really wanted one; where I hunt you're just about as likely to see an elk as a deer, and I don't consider a 6mm an elk cartrige. So it took me all of about 5 seconds to decide I'd take 'em.

So now I've got a free set of RCBS 6mm dies, some brass, and about 15 bullets. Guess I'll have to start keeping an eye out for a decent 6mm. I figure it'll make a good starter rifle for my oldest, so I've got a few years to look. Good Lord, what's wrong with me that I'm now collecting reloading equipment for cartriges I may or may not get in the future?
 
Did that with 22-250 dies. Already had a 222, 223, 300 Savage and .243. Once I had the dies, that 788 just walked right up and begged me to adopt her.
 
I was given 303 British, 30-30, and 9 mm dies, which I had no use for any. Now I own a Winchester 94, a Bretta 92, and I am keeping my eye out for a good Enfield. I just looked at it as if I was going to buy something, I might as well buy something that will save me a little bit of money overall.

As a young man, I'd buy the dies and bullet mould so I could justify purchasing the gun. Now, you may just want to post an ad here (shopping forum) so as to off load it and buy something you can use.

I know where you're coming from. I have about a dozen guns, but somebody gave me 500 rounds of 22 lr ammo to get rid of. Like you, I had no 22 gun in either pistol or rifle, so of course I said "Sure, I can get rid of em for you!" Then that justified me buying a Ruger Mark II, which only justified buying MORE rimfire....... etc. Seems to me to be just good sound business practices!!

I found 500 empty once fired 45-70 brass at my local range scattered all over my shooting table.

Took them home, bought a Handi rifle and a set of dies.

The brass is probably worth more than the gun itself.

I'll take any shooting accessory and make it useable:D
 
I'd like to meet the guy who shot 500 rounds of .45-70 in one range session. They probably call him Lefty now. :)
 
Kind of reminds me of the Ford 390 FE big block a friend gave me. Damn.... Now I have to go out and buy a Factory 5 "Cobra" kit car. :D
 
I got a big box of free reloading stuff once.

A Herter's press, a scale, some guages, a few boxes of brass, some .44 mag loads from 1968, and something like 9 sets of dies. A couple of them have rust, and are probably history, and the rest I have guns for, or are duplicates. (2 each, .357 and .44 Mag/special.)

Except for two. The odballs. One I have brass for, the other's a loner. They put me in a bit of a dillema:

Where in SamHeck am I supposed to find a .264 Winchester Mag. or a .225 Winchester? When did those rounds go out of production?

It'll be fun diligently searching until I get lucky enough to find a gently used varmint rig with a fouled barrel that responds beautifully to anti-copper solvent. It'll be a sweet piece of expensive custom work from the glory days of custom rifles, and it'll sell for pennies on the dollar because it's in a caliber nobody's even heard of before, and the barrel's "shot out".

Hey, hope is cheap. I sell a lot of it. ;)
