Well maybe hate is too strong, but really dang ticked off isn't. I have not been able to get more than 15 rounds through this thing.
The first time it went to the range it was fun for fifteen shots. Then nothing. Tried different ammo. Nothing. There weren't even any dents on the primers. Take it apart to find the firing pin stuck inside of the bolt. No problem, needs better cleaning. Good thing I always take more than one gun or that would have been a wasted range fee.
Next time I take it out my exitement level was high. The rifle was all nice and clean. firing pin was rattling free inside the bolt. Strip in a clip of ammo, close the bolt, line up sights, squeeze trigger, hammer drops, and no boom. Still not even a primer strike. 3 different brands of ammo.
While back home for more cleaning. After it is cleaned again, I put it back together and pull the bolt back and the hammer snaps in two. Wait till next gun show and get a whole new trigger group. ( If for no other reason than to have extral of the trigger group small parts.)
Went to the range today. Parts have been replaced. The rifle has been cleaned, AGAIN! Still no boom! Still no primer strikes.
I have cleaned it, cleaned it and cleaned it some more. If there is any more cosmoline in or on this thing then I have a cosmo factory instead of a rifle. If it gets cleaned anymore there won't be any finish on the metal or wood left in the stock. I have replaced just about every part except the stock, barrel, and receiver. Tried it with all new parts, all old parts, combinations of old and new, and borrowed parts. Nothing!
Sorry for the long winded rant. I am just a little miffed that it seems that with the initial cost of the rifle and the cost everything that has been replaced this has turned into a very expensive (at least for something like an SKS) non working hunk of commie crap!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I want to like this gun. I did like this gun. I know that SKS are good guns. If they well all as bad as this one then people wouldn't be buying them like they are. Maybe I should just cut my losses with this lemon and buy another one (need something to shoot all the 7.62x39). This might look good as a lamp.
Thanks for letting me blow off some steam, even if I can't blow off any ammo.
