I have about $1000 from my tax return I'd like to blow on a rifle. Either a M1A, M1 Garand, or a FAL. Obviously the M1A would have to be used. What do you guys think?

What's your main purpose for the gun? You can get a nice Garand for much less than $1000, but will it do what you want?

Do you already have any other MBR's?

Of the FAL and M1A, I prefer the M1A.

This is what I have in my "collection":

AR-15A2 20"
Ruger 10/22
Mosin-Nagant 91/30
Remington 870
Glock 23
SIG P226

I really like military rifles and I just want another fun rifle to shoot with. My range is limited to 100 yards so I can't do anything real long-distance. I've shot the M1 Garand before and I love it. But I'd also love to own a FAL and a M1A.

I was in the same situation and I went for the FAL, namely a DSA STG58A Carbine.

I still want a M1A, but I'm going to wait to SA gets their QC back up to snuff. The only thing about buying used is that there is a chance you might inherit someone elses problem child. For 1K I want something guranteed to work. I'd also make sure SA will still honor the warranty to the second owner.

Concur with Redleg155.

Right now I'm on a bolt gun spree and have gone bonkers on them. Within the past few years I have acquired a Moisin Nagant M91/30 sniper rifle and a Remington 700 LTR.

Does your car belong to you or a leasing company?

If the former is true, I'd say get yourself a Garand.

Garand, and you could theoretically get 2 for $1000 or one and lots of ammo.

Those were a bit more than the 1000$ he's willing to spend, last time I checked.

Atlantic Firearms has them normally at $899.00. http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976385324.htm . There is also a link there to his website.

I bought my Carbine from them for $949.00.

If you just want the standard DSA STG58A, then try checking FAC (Guns n Stuff). http://www.gunsnstuff.net/etc/index.asp . Last time I checked they had the standard version for $799.00. The only reason I went with Atlantic for the Carbine is that FAC only had the standard model.

Now the SA58 models are gonna cost ya. Forget the 1K. :D
