I have a shotgun problem

Thanks for the input.

My first question here is, what is so bad about a 3" shell in the single shot gun? It doesn't feel any different to me than in the mossberg pump. Just wondering. I used to use a single shot for years hunting birds and small game. I figured if I missed the first shot, they deserved to get away. I used mostly 2 3/4" though.

I could go to the machine shop and measure deeper in the chamber, but I doubt I would find anything. My finger can't feel anything in the chambers unusual.

Yes, it happens everytime with these shells.

I tried to contact Winchester. Sent an inquiry through their website as they don't provide a phone number. Only a web submission query.. They sent me an email today and they want those shells back. They want to arrange to have them picked up and sent their phone number. I gave them back to the dealer and he gave my money back for them. So, I will tell Winchester that tomorrow and see what they want to do.

I am pretty sure it is something with these shells...... but guess I can't positively say that. I just have never seen anything like this in my life. ( no one else I know has either.)

I'm not trying to be insulting but have you tried running a fine sharp edged pick along the chamber wall from the front to the rear. The little ridge at the chamber mouth in my gun wasn't detectable with my finger. Seeing that you are a master machinist, I'm sure you have better techniques than I do but you never know.

Nothing if it doesn't bother you. I didn't enjoy shooting 3" in anything I've ever shot. I don't have much use for it since I don't waterfowl hunt. A lot of people are convinced 3" is the minimum.

But, I also prefer 20ga over 12ga for the same reasons. Nothing I've ever killed with a 20ga woulda been any more dead if I had been using a 12ga.

I don't enjoy ANY load in ANY single (high-end trap guns not included) because they tend to be very light, have poor stock dimensions (for me) and thus have brutal recoil, even with the lightest loads.
