I just bought a WASR-10 and I went out to send some lead down range. I shot it once and the problems started. Here is a list of some of the problems that I had and I'm hoping you guys can tell me how to get those fixed.

1. The shell would not eject after it was fired,
2. On a few occasions the gun would fire 2 shots but after 2 the rest would not extract or feed.
3. The shell would not go into the reciever sometimes. Even if I manually racked the slide.

Can anyone tell me the problem here or atleast point me in the right direction.

I don't know much about the platform but did you try different magazines/ammunition?

Perhaps The ammunition or even the rifle is out of spec.

I thought it could be the ammo but I have not tried it yet..Only took 1 mag to shoot. Right now its in my shop stripped down and being cleaned. After that Im going to take it and shoot again with different mags and ammo.

Im just wondering if my extractor is messed up...but I do not know...

If you just bought it new, it should still be under warranty. Call up Century Arms, describe the problems, and get an RMA. Let them fix it.

Could be lots of things, but given how my WASR came, my first guess is that there's too much cosmoline still in the magazine(s).

I would field strip the rifle and mag(s) and clean them first. Try shooting again. If it's not Kosher, Century might need a peek.

Also, what kind of ammunition were you using? If it's Indian manufacture, there's your problem.

I doubt it's magazin related...

Really this needs a better description for a guess. I think it sounds more like the extrator is not gripping the base of the cartridge for some reason. I would strip it down and then check the tension of the extractor with an already fired case, just to see if it is catching the cases at all. Your extractor is possibly out of spec, or it has cosmoline or something binding it. HTH...

Still 2 Many Choices!?

AK-47? Impossible! We all know how reliable and durable and indestructable they are... It must be an AR that has somehow morphed into a twisted AK variant.

Remove dust cover, remove action spring, remove bolt and op rod assy.
Hold down the hammer and press it a bit further down then while holding it down, pull the trigger and then release the hammer. Hammer should stay down held by the disconnector. Release trigger and the hammer should hop up a little and catch on the trigger sear. If this is all as it should be, reassemble with just a small bit of lube on the rails and bolt stem where it turns inside the carrier. Check that the firing pin is free to move inside the bolt and that there is a "springy" feel to it. Do not lube the gas piston! Put it together and go shoot it.

How much does the magazine wiggle waggle when it's inserted in the receiver? My understanding of WASR-10s is that they originally accepted a 10 single stack magazine and would not accept a standard double stack AK mag. CIA took these rifles and used a grinder to elarge the mag well opening to take standard mags. Undoubtedly they went too far on a few rifles and you may have gotten one of those. A little side to side wagging of the magazine isn't a problem but there's a limit to the slop that an AK will tolerate.

I'd be suspect of the cosmo first. Do a really good job of cleaning it and try again, if that doesn't work then I'd try what's already been suggested with the RMA.

Those tinfoil recievers they use can be slightly bent, rivited too tight etc. The piston could be dragging in the gas tube alittle. Check for wear.
