The Swampfox Blade (Amber Reticle) Guys please trust me on this. You absolutely NEED to try this optic. It’s a 1x Prism. I don’t even have an astigmatism and it still completely blew my mind and shattered all expectations…which weren’t even that high to begin with. I got it because I found it for next to nothing, didn’t already have a Prism, saw it had Shake Awake, and thought the Amber Reticle might be a fun novelty. Crazy thing is, I have genuinely never been this pleased about any other firearms related purchase in my life, and it’s not even close. The positives of this optic FAR outweigh any negatives. It’s the most fully featured 1x Prism on the planet and yet it doesn’t even show up on Amazon when you search “1x Prism”; that’s insane.

I had three big reservations. The first was the weight. It’s about two ounces heavier than an Eotech. I have one arm and was worried that the extra weight would make my non bullpup rifles unwieldy. I’ve had no issues whatsoever. It actually added much needed balance in my case and I can move this thing from target to target like it’s a pistol. Again, I have one arm so that means a lot to me for a standard (non bullpup) rifle lol.

The second was the non adjustable height. It’s fixed mount definitely isn’t low profile. On an AR though it sits in just right spot though and you should have no issues whatsoever. Where it will likely give you problems is on something like an AK or a PTR. You’ll need to get a cheek riser. That’s a relatively small investment though if you don’t already have a stock with it built in.

The third and final reservation wasn’t with the optic it’s self, but with the Amber Reticle I chose. It’s an option that was added for people who are colorblind to red and green. I didn’t really consider it a serious option and as mentioned above, it was more of a “fun novelty “. I was worried that it would be hard to pick up and that it would easily bleed into the background. I have never been so wrong in my life. It stands out like a sore thumb on even the most brightest of warm colors. It leaves me wondering why I can only find this reticle color on Dual Illuminated Trijicon’s and the Swampfox Blade I’m currently talking about.

Now for the positives…the feature set is unbelievable. Shake Awake, two NV modes, 8 different daytime brightness settings, incredible brightness at the max level, incredible battery life at the lowest daytime level. Not to mention that the reticle is etched and has a Bullet Rise Indicator that actually works as advertised. Plus since it’s etched, it’s still completely usable if the battery dies or if the electronics fail. This thing is an absolute tank! It’s all metal except for the two rubber buttons and it can survive under water much longer than any human can. It even comes with an included killflash in the box. The adjustment tool is built into the caps and said adjustments are half MOA clicks. Even the Cyclops Gen 2 doesn’t have half MOA clicks. Said clicks are very tactile and I had it perfectly zeroed within a couple of minutes. I haven’t done enough shooting with it to confirm how well it holds zero over time and with heavy use but there are YouTube people that have that part covered.

The best feature though…I can pick this reticle up and put it on target faster than any optic I have ever used. I wouldn’t expect a prism to make a better CQB sight than a reflex or holographic but this thing is just indescribable. The eye relief is far better than you would ever need. The eye box is super impressive. If you move so far to the side, you do start to see black like with any scope. The reticle is still visible and useable though and shots are still completely accurate and easy to make. Honestly though, the angles you’d have to look from to get to that point are pretty unrealistic and I can’t imagine it being something too many people would ever notice. Plus the FOV is among the best for 1x Prisms.

I know this has been a relatively (okay…extremely) long post, and I know I can’t convince everyone to go out and spend their money on this optic. All I’m saying is that it’s going for next to nothing right now and it’s definitely worth picking up. It’s hard to say why it’s not more popular but it seems that not too many people even know it exists. I’ve been looking at 1x Prisms for a while and I just recently came across it. Like I mentioned, it doesn’t even come up under “1x Prism” on Amazon. The thing is an absolute gem though and I would give up any gun or accessory I own before I’d ever give up this sight.

Man, that is a large optic.

I wouldn't fret about Amazon not carrying it. To the opposite, if it was an Amazon exclusive, I'd be less likely to buy it.

I have always liked prism scopes and I'm glad we're seeing some new options. I'm tickled pink with my PA 3x micro, but I'm looking for a 1x for a different carbine. I'll have to give that a closer look.

Oh they carry it, you just have to search by name for it to come up lol. I got mine new on eBay but Optics Planet has it for less than I paid it turns out. I’m definitely not disappointed though. I got my money’s worth and then some. It’s pretty big but when actually using it, it doesn’t feel big.

I have a Swampfox Blade with green reticle and am very happy with it even though it is a bit big. And yes the Bullet Rise Compensator does work as designed. I initially sighted mine in at 15 yards using M855 ammo while at an indoor range. I also verified it at 5 and 10 yards. It was on the money. The next time I had a chance to get to the outdoor range I shot it at 50 yards and I did not have to make any adjustments. Needless to say, Swampfox did their homework and I am impressed with the Blade.

Along with the Blade, I also own every model of micro and tube dot sights they make along with their Tomahawk (1-4) and Arrowhead (1-8) LPVO scopes and their 6-24 Patriot scope. I have been very happy with Swampfox products. Plus they have a great warranty and excellent customer service.

PS. I suggest buying directly from Swampfox's website if you happen to qualify for their MIL/LEO discount.
