I picked up this rifle fairly cheaply at a local auction. It looks to be dated 1934 unless these numbers mean something else. It does have a mark that looks like a crescent moon with a star over it Also it has some arabic? type writing on it. I have taken some pictures of it but dont have a clue how to post them hear as they are just on my computer. I would be glad to email the pics to someone if they could help me get them posted. Thanks

Thanks for the link Jim. I at least know it is from Turkey now. The bore doesnt look to good on it though. I am going to give it a good cleaning though and see if that helps.

The Persian Mausers were ceremonial... hence the bores are generally pristine. or so I am told.

Afy it is definitaly a Turkish Mauser. I dont think the bore looks to good so far. I intend to give it a good scrubbing though to make sure.

3 little words

FOAMING BORE CLEANER

I bought an old (well, duh!) 1893 Turk, and the bore was black, although you could make out decent rifling....Was given part of a can of FBC (after I'd spent hours scrubbling, with much improvement, but still kinda ugly). After repeated applications of FBC(but NO scrubbing or other "manual labor", I now have a mirror bore. Gun now shoots just over MOA w/ commercial ammo, and the handloads we've tried so far.

Note: This gun was sporterized by me, and I DID shorten and re-crown the barrel. All of the real wear was at the muzzle from steel militray cleaning rods.
