I just changed somebody's mind about an AWB!

He was arguing with me on my youtube channel (which is linked in my sig if you care...it's all about guns), well on 3 different videos. He was spouting all the typical misconceptions and I enlightened him and he actually listened. Felt pretty good.

Even if it's 1 person at a time... I WILL change the world!!

Nice. I have a co-worker who we just hired fresh out of the Air Force, and he was asking me about buying a pistol. (He eventually picked up a G19). We were going to shoot it, and discussing the political situation and why ammo is so scarce, and he says, "well, they do have a point about assault weapons".

I explained the actual provisions of the AWB, and he instantly agreed that it was retarded. I honestly believe that most people equate "assualt weapons" with full auto unless explicitly educated otherwise. And the media does nothing to disuade that, of course.

The media actively promotes that misconception. They'll show video of a guy holding an AR-15 as an example of an "assault weapon" and then they'll immediately cut to a clip of a guy at a range shooting an M16 full auto.

Nine times out of ten when somebody advocates an "assault weapon" ban, and I ask them what an "assault weapon" IS, they think it's a machinegun. If they're not an imbecile, they usually drop their support for the AWB when they learn the truth.

Anybody that knows what the true provisions of the AWB are and are familiar with the guns it bans, and is still a proponent of such a ban, is not stupid, but has an anti-gun agenda.
