I just committed to buy my first ever auto

Before I fell on a period of hard times and had to sell most of my collection, I had been exclusively a revolver owner. Now that I can slowly start to rebuild my collection, I decided to try some new kinds of guns. I still love revolvers, don't get me wrong, but I was curious to try something new.

My G20SF is my favorite pistol as it just does everything well. I was never a Glock fan B/F I got it, but I have learned to really appreciate this gun. It amazes me how manageable the gun is for how powerful heavy/true 10mm loads are.

Did you get a regular G20 or the SF model?

The G20SF is one of those pistols that I really want to get, but something else seems to come along and jump the line. I can safely say I will one day purchase a G20, but it could be months or years from now. I read only great things of them.

Jason the only safety you need with a glock is common sense IMHO.Theres always gonna be more glock lovers then haters for a reason.I tried a glock,XD,and M&P before making my decision.To be honest i would be happy with any of those 3 but the glock was best for ME.

Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot...that's a good start

Holy crapo ... that looks ike some serious damage; seems to explode!! Can a poly gun handle that kind of power? I don't know much about the 10mm but that looks like one hell of a serious gun.

^ I don't think that 10mm shot is real. I've seen that picture several times without the 10mm hole in it. It's kind of a little joke. Notice the mushroom cloud, and you hear people talk about Nuclear 10mm loads. A little play on words kind of thing I'm thinking. I could be wrong though.

But yes the 10mm is awesome, and the polymer Glock 20 is likely the best 10mm out there, and handles full power 10mm rounds just fine.

^ People say it is, but the cost to feed my 10 isn't that much more than what it costs me to feed my .45 which yes I guess .45ACP is pretty pricey so that would make 10mm ammo pretty pricey also. Especially when talking premium ammo the cost between the two isn't much if any different. When talking about your cheaper target ammo .45ACP is a little cheaper.

Don't touch the trigger until you intend to fire the weapon, like any other firearm. The safety protrudes a little past the trigger and at first sounds like it'd be awkward, but it's not. You barely notice it's there once you get used to it.

You will find though that Glocks don't have a very good feeling trigger pull. Some people utilize the reset, some let the trigger go all the way forward and "roll" it straight back in one fluid motion, others stage the trigger to right before it breaks.

You'll probably find yourself shooting low-left if right handed, low-right if left handed until you get used to the shape of the grip and the weird trigger.

Only problem I see with 10mm besides recoil is ammo availability. Generally you can't walk into a Wally-World and get ammo. Given the cost & availability, reloading is the best way to go.

In that case, keep an eye on the brass, Jason. 10mm is a high pressure round and I believe all Glocks that aren't 9mm don't fully support the chamber.

What safety?

Try a Crossbreed holster for IWB or a Raven Concealment Holster for OWB. Good stiff Kydex suites Glocks well. Be careful reholstering, and keep good trigger dicipline.
