Here's an 11th hour effort to to try to stop another corner of our rights from crumbling away; Please join me with similar letters:

Mr. Governor,
I would like to respectfully urge you to veto AB962 when it comes across your desk. This bill will place another burden on California business owners already struggling through hard economic times. It could potentially cost our state lost revenue in taxes, and our businessmen lost sales opportunities. This bill will penalize law-abiding citizens and provide our state agencies with information that cannot be useful in solving crimes.

As someone who has seen with their own eyes, nations whose people have had their rights and freedoms stripped away, you have both the understanding and the authority to prevent the Constitutional rights of more than 36 million Californians from being slowly eroded away. Please veto AB962.

Respectfully yours,

I just called the governor's office.

He has a mixed record on gun related bills.

Moderators, can we sticky this for the next couple of days?

You don't have to live out here in the PRK to use a phone, and we could really use the help. And for those of you who are saying "you made your own mess" - I live up here in the northern, rural part of the state, in a shall issue couty for CCW.
The Governator's phone is 916-445 2841
Some talking points:
1. It is already illegal for persons prohibited from possessing firearms to recieve or possess ammunition.
2. AB962 creates an unfunded DOJ records keeping program, with a cost of $3.5 mil. There is nothing in the budget to pay for this program.
3. Local LEO are charged with enforcement. Many jurisdictions are having trouble finding funds to pay for day to day activities; they don't need or want another useless unenforceable law on the books.

good, short email coop 923 although I don't think CA's rights have been SLOWLY eroded.

Calif. gun rights have been slowly eroded. This kind of crap has been going on for 30 years that I can think of. Started with the 15 day waiting period as far as I can remember.

It has only gotten worse since I moved away in 1998.

My friends and I in socal are furious over the passing AB 962. We are all emailing and calling the gov. to veto.

Its bad enough that you can't buy a lot of guns in Cali because they are not on the "approved" list, that the guns you can buy are generally $100-200 more expensive, and that ammo is nearly impossible to find (or when you do find it its double what it is anywhere else in the country), you can only buy 1 new handgun a month and you have to wait 10 days just to pick it up...argh nevermind I can go on all day

Bills like 962 IMO are a slippery slope. Today you need a fingerprint and driver's license to buy ammo and you can't buy ammo online, tomorrow you can't drive ammo across the border, the next day you can't buy ammo without a background check, then the day after next ammo has a 1000% tax, the day after that you can't buy any ammo at all...

currently we are allowed to reload, but I'm convinced the condor ''lead ban'' was really aimed at home cast bullet makers.Fortunately I and many others protested to the Fish and Game dept.,and kept it from spreading to the entire state...for now.
