I've been searching for six months for one that wasn't at scalper's prices, and had many offers at the $700 range. Too much!

I found a NIB speciman at a local gun show. The dealer was asking $600, but after my crafty negotiating skills, I walked away with it for $450.

I shot it last weekend with some full power loads, and my hand was hurting after a few cylinders, It was very accurate for a snubby, but needs the trigger smoothed, and the trigger face radiused, as it's too sharp.

The extra round is nice, after being used to 5.

Ya, everybody who's got one in good shooting condition swears they'll never get rid of it.

Yours sounds like it needs only very minor tweaks. I recommend working on that trigger sharpness first; if the gun isn't physically comfortable to shoot, you won't be able to really get a feel for how the action is and if it needs slicking up.

Try Remington Golden Sabres in it. They are reduced velocity. Very easy to handle for me. Full loads can be a handful, regardless of what revolver fired from.
I totally agree with Jim, file down or stone down the sharp edges on the trigger. Make the trigger rounded at the bottom. Very easy to do. Just watch for a very small spring on the back side of the hammer block.
You'll enoy the gun. It's very depenable and a pleasure to shoot.

Magnum Carry

I bought he first one I saw NIB in 1998. I had the same problem with mine but it also had more serious problems. At 15 yards, it shot a 3" pattern, not a group, no matter what ammo I used. My S&W 649 would regularly give me one ragged hole at the same distance.

I put the Colt away with the intention of using it for trading material.

Last February, I wrote to Colt and was told to return and they would fix it.
Thirty five days latter, it was returned and now shoots almost as well as the 649.

While it was at Colt, I had them smooth out the trigger surface and it is now shootable.

Hogue rubber grips made a difference but I finally settled on a pair of Badger grips.

Yeah its a little sharp, but not a big deal to me. I paid $425 +tax/fees etc for mine last November, can't beleive the asking prices I'm seeing on them at Gunbroker.

Mine likes the heavy lead loads, but like many small revolvers it shoots high. Thinking of having the front sight altered or tritium dot inserted.

[deleted], Jack. I saw one at the last gunshow and went back this weekend to see if I could steal it.
Now I know where it went.
At the last show, I was torn between that gun and an S&W Model 60 .357. I went with the Smith because I had a set of ivory grips for it and didn't have a gun to put them on. I figured I'd get the Colt next time. Oh well.
I'm glad it was you who got it.
