i just picked up some fc 07 223 brass

i guess its federal 07....anyone have any experience with this........ is it good brass or did i get some bad brass to reload......it looks like true once fired brass......... thanks guys!!!!!!!!

Most will likely tell you that FC is softer than other brass and that you will probably get less reloads out of them. I happened to develop my 223 loads with FC and I would rather not go through the hassle of developing a load all over again just because I changed brands of brass...I know...thats just lazy but I don't make it out to the range too often so I would rather not waste trips just to test loads if I can avoid it so...if you decide you don't want to use the FC brass I have a fair amount of once fired brass from other manufacturers if you would like to trade after reading other responses.

what kind of brass do u have ? i have about 2-21/2k of fc 07 cleaned not deprimed

07 is the year, FC Federal cartridge.
Most likely this is military brass, federal doesn't put the year on commercial cartridges and instead puts the caliber in the headstamp.
That means it most likely has crimped primer pockets, it also means that you should reduce loads 10% for the decreased case volume of milspec brass, unless your reloading data says they used mil spec brass.

I have reloaded federal brass like this after removing the primer pocket crimp its good quality brass.

I use federal brass for one load only, the primer pockets stretch and really messes up the innards on an AR when the spent primers fall into the lower.

I've been using some Federal commercial .223 brass and agree that the primer pockets are on the large end of tolerance. However, the pocket DEPTH was a bit shallow and when reamed to proper depth has not shown any problems with primer debris, all primers staying with the cases.

I shoot mine through an AR-15 and Mini-14.

I prefer to use Winchester commercial brass but have learned to use most anything.

i like fed brass, they keep it a bit shorter, so you don't have to trim after the first firing like i do with some. most FC brass i pick up is still under 1.75 after the first firing.
