well i just got a mossberg 590a1 14" AOW
if your looking for a shotgun i am very impressed with the 590a1 it is a really solid weapon, the only plastic parts are the grips everything else is metal, it is pretty heavy because it has a heavy barrel. it holds 4+1 3" shells or 5+1 2 3/4" shells

well here are some pics, its with my 18" cmmg ar-15

Neato! Where's the ring in back so you can attach a shoulder harness?

I was about to ask why and how you would mount an upside down shotgun on top of your scope, but then I read further on...

Looks nice, how does it shoot?

Short shotguns are addictive, you've been warned. :D

Shown: 32" barreled single shot, 18.5" barreled Remington 11 with a seriously reduced stock, 12" barreled 870, 8" barreled single shot, and a pistol grip 8" barreled double barrel.

Dgreno

Honestly, I don't much care how it looks - it fits me just right, feels right, and handles well. I'm happy with it.

Besides, shortening a synthetic stock is a PITA.

If it were me, I'd blow the extra dough and get the SBS stamp.

OK - Will somebody explain the difference between the $5 AOW and the $200 SBS stamps and the rules that apply ?

In a nutshell, the SBS can have a stock or a pistol grip at will, the AOW can only have a pistol grip.

WOW ! Thanks for the info . It makes as much sense as I expected , but at least now I understand it ! :D

And the AOW can never have a shoulder stock or it's a SBS. According to the ATF, it you even touch a shoulder stock and AOW receiver together, you just made a SBS without paying the tax. Big trouble.

Er... not right. It must be attached or readily attached in a configuration that allows it to be fired - duct tape counts, but simply touching them together doesn't. :)

PTK where did you get that laminated stock on the 870? I've been looking for a laminated stock/forend with no luck. I found a pair on ebay but was outbid of course.

Is that one of the examiners (I know them by last name, not first) or just a fellow on the phone? If it's not in writing, I'm not buying it. And even then, unless explicitly called out in law, I'm not buying it.

Ernie is the law specialist at the NFA branch. I didn't catch his last name.

I don't want to be the test dummy for that either. We can't have SBS/SBR in MI unless they are C&R, so I'd get charged both with a federal violation and state violation, double jeopardy does not apply.

Better not have any scrap 2x4s, by that interpretation of the law, nevermind having another shotgun with a full stock! You'd instantly be in violation. ;)

Exactly what's wrong with the ATF. The NFA branch seems friendly enough and helpful, but some of their rulings are just stupid.
