Been hunting and gathering for a 2 weeks. Not that items are hard to come by but with November fast approaching I wanted to share a photo and see if my for sight is consistent with the rest of the community. uploadfromtaptalk1461709792979.jpg

Yes, with election day November 8th that stash should last most shooters till Nov 15th. Maybe a week or so.

Now just get 52 times that much and you can last till November 2017.

Might be a good time to think about 2018 also...

Figure out how many rounds you shoot on average per week, moth year. What main calibers. Go ONLINE and buy in bulk. The supplies are out there NOW, they will not be the closer we get.

Yes, you may have to fork out a lot of money at one time, but buy what you can. If you buy enough the Haz mat fee is meaningless. Some People get so hung up about an extra $25 to $30.

I got started reloading 4 years ago in the height of the panic. I haven't quit buying yet. My supplies occupy an entire walk in closet.

Stocking up is a good thing. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Coldfinger, I'll add, if you find a powder you like or even one that's recommended, buy it in 8# jugs.
Think of it this way -- if you're loading pistol - one lb will net you around 1000-1500 rounds. For rifle -- that may only be 140 rounds or less. How far will that one pound go?

I take it you only shoot a few rounds of rifle a year which you look good on. If a pistol shooter you are seriously lacking imo.

For my level of 'availability' paranoia, I'd need a REALLY wide angle lens to get the all supplies in one picture.

And an empty soccer field to stage it :D

I do not know your situation in KY but in CA that is pretty slim pickins. Most folks will have at LEAST 20 lbs of powder- pref. 40+ lbs and at least 15+ lbs is one of their favorite powders.

As a reloader I started reloading to save money on .44 mag. I did not save much money, but I DID shoot 8K rds of .44 mag over the past 2 years and I only paid $9.70/50rds of GOOD stuff for me Deagle.

I am in the camp that says STOCK UP. When you see things on sale, BUY. When prices go up, look elsewhere. Does Cabelas still have their $19.99/1k primer sale? Buy about 20K+ primers and then go look for powders that you like and find the vendor that has most of them in stock and then make a $600+ order. Also, just in case things turn ugly again, get a pack of BT Sniper .224 from .22lr dies so you can swage your own .224 projectiles if need be. Also, ALWAYS be on the lookout for brass. Pick up all your brass and other brass at the range if you can. Later on you can always trade brass that you have excess of for other brass from other people. ;)

The nice thing about powder and primers and EVERYTHING with reloading is the long shelf life. I am still opening powder from mid 1980's...

Stilly is right about stocking up and gathering together all the brass you can find. Over the past 3 years I've scooped up over 150,000 pieces of brass at the range where I shoot. That's a lot of brass but I remember 2008.

I also remember when we couldn't find powder, primers, bullets, or brass anywhere at ANY price. NEVER AGAIN! Let's just say I'm good for a loooong time.

Last weekend I ran into a guy digging lead out of the backstops which I thought was a very good idea. He had two 5 gallon buckets nearly full.

All very valid points. I get a monthly allowance if you will, with regard to buying supplies. I agree that 8 ponders would be great. I can never find them in the flavor I want. I wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one starting to stock pile items. I for sure need more pistol powder, I do have 3 pounds all different flavors because I'm searching for that one size fits all... close as I'm gonna get is one size fits most I think. Just picked up CFE pistol. Depending on how it does in my pistol calibers I can get an 8 pounder of it.
I'm behind the power curve I suppose and need to get my poop in a group.
Thank you gents, now I know where I stand.
Bigger bench and closet space is an impending upgrade.

My thoughts exactly! I remember my very first powder valley order was something like 3k primers and 2lbs of hp38, now I wont order anything under $400. Sometimes I'll get cci primers at the gunshow for $125/5k. last keg of hp38 I bought was only $140 from someone on armslist. I told myself no more buying but seeing that a new cabelas just opened in my area- lord have mercy when those s&b primers go on sale for $20. With each new purchase, im justifying it in my head by saying that I'm "evening out my components" so that I dont run out of primers to light off the last powder purchase or vice versa. Hard part is staying under that 50lb powder limit :p

Just today I loaded up some light plinking 500 s&w's with some 27 year old unique that I was given for free, free cast lead bullet and $20/k primers. 100 times cheaper than factory ammo.

Here is my next question. But first a statement.
Iave 14 firearms
I have saved loot to buy an<other.250$ (sks)
Should I stock up now and be a hoarder. Or d I take what i saved and buy everything I see

No one can guess what the future will bring, nor can anyone else tell you what you need on hand for your amount of shooting and your budget. That's plenty for some folks and not enough to get them through a month for others. Some spend a lot on shooting and for others it is a small part of their budget each month.

We are not going to do hoarding, or wringing our hands about an election, etc, etc.
