Local shop has a like new 453 varmint 22 for a decent price. Thought about getting one some day. Now I am trying to figure out if I need one, I know I want it. How is the accuracy of the 453? Worth the extra money over the 452?

I already have a CZ 452 16" threaded and a Lux.

So, tell me why I need or don't need the 453.......

The 453 is not selling all that well. CZ has already replaced the 452 with a rifle that is less expensive to manufacture, as they were quite dear for a 22, and folks were buying less expensive rifles.

The comparative rarity of the 453 and the set trigger are the two plusses I see for buying one of them.

I have a 550 and a 527 each with the set trigger, and rarely do I use that feature. I like the standard triggers on each of them. Perhaps you would get value out of that feature.

:)

I use the set trigger sometime on my 550. I just thought it would be neat on the 22. But I guess a trigger that was adjusted right might work just as good.

Get it, you know you want it. I stopped buying guns I "need" a long time ago. ;)

My first CZ is a 452FS model I got shortly before Christmas. Now I want several more. It's way more accurate than any sporting .22LR has a right to be, much less a full stock version.

I don't have any I need right now. But I do have three that I want. And after looking at the Shot Show pics, I may want some more.

My 452 American can do 3 shot groups at a hundred yards that will put most centerfire rifles to shame.

Wish CZ's were more common around here. I REALLY REALLY want a 452FS, but if I ever ordered one I'd get the ugliest stock possible.

Got my dad a 452 Ultra-Lux for Christmas. It it as accurate as any other rimfire in our collection and we have at least 12 rim fires, some of them target grade rifles. I am thinking I may have to go out and purchase a few more 452 before they all dry up.

453

I purchased a new 453. At 25 yards it litteraly will shoot 5 rounds through the same hole. I'm not talking "enlarged hole" I'm speaking of 5 rounds through a pea size hole. I really like the rifle. So I suggest you buy one before they go away, and a less expensive to build model replaces it.

I opted for the 453 with the set trigger. I did not want to do any mods to the rifle like so many seem to do with the triggers in the 452. I could have purchased either at the time. The 453 was roughly 100 bucks more but I thought it would be a good expenditure. Sort of like getting leather seats in the truck as opposed to vinyl. Anyhow, I find the two trigger modes nice for different purposes.

If you only had one, would it be a 452 or 453?

I really like the 452. It's a good value and a real shooter. I couldn't justify the cost of the set trigger in my mind or wallet. yet the 453 will always bring a premium.

IMHO these CZS are becoming legendary or will be one day. few rifles exhibit this kind of build quality and accuracy to back it up at most any price. You could pay double the price for a centerfire for the same quality/accuracy.

All a set trigger does is INCREASE the lock time, getting a single stage trigger where it SHOULD be, is much better for accuracy. (through adjustment, stoneing or spring replacement)

The reason why you don't need the CZ 453 is because you have a CZ 452 and the 453 won't out perform a 452. The reason you need the 453 is simple ..........you want it and its a fantastic rifle. I like the 453 for target shooting but would rather have a 452 for general use including small game hunting. For the $100 price difference between a 452 varmint and a 453 varmint I would take the 452 and do a trigger job. No difference in accuracy from those I have seen in use.

I would still like a 453, but my fridge just went out, so, my wife answered my 453 question for me..........

That and since the stove needed to be replaced also, she said it is just as easy to haul 2 new appliances home in the truck as it would be one.

She took care of next 2 purchases all in one night......ol well, just have to replenish the gun fund and go again.

Need? Are you kidding? If I only bought rifles I needed, I would've stopped buying them over fifty years ago after I purchased a 30-06 and a .22. Get what you want and never look back.

No, if you don't need it then don't buy it. You should save that money for your retirement. A nursing home administrator is going to need that money for his lake cabin or daughters convertible.

I didnt need the 3 rd or 4th ruger
Didnt need the 2nd 3rd or 4th CZ

But then again any one ever see a hearse with a U-haul attached to it taking all that money with you. :)

I have a 453 and certainly like it.
I spent quite a bit of time getting the set trigger just how I wanted it and once it was set up I really like it shooting paper.
The one I bought is a 17HMR, I'd sure like a couple more of them in different calibers.
I sure don't "need" any more rifles, but sure do "want' some more. :D
