I really wanted to carry my 1911 but have been waiting for cooler weather.I got a spurt of energy today and figured id try making a very slim Kydex holster that would work under a t-shirt.It helped alot that everyone here chimed in and told me the best place to try and place it.

The holster is made from medium thick Kydex and is all one piece. It turned out perfect imo except i got a crease in the belt clip, but that kinda makes it not look so much like a holster clip so i dont mind.I put about a 25 degree cant on it so the butt blends perfect against my body.
After forming and sanding edges i put a semi temperary thin foam backing on the Kydex so only the soft stuff touches the gun.Its a clamshell design and i made it tight to start with, but the foam made it extremly secure and when belted in the waistband it wont budge in the holster. If i did secure both ends at the trigger the gun wouldnt come out of the holster when drawn.
Saftey features: yes i thought about those for sure.Trigger fully covered and it molded to the saftey in the on position. When secured you cant take the saftey off even if you wanted too.I also made sure to stay away from the grip saftey so it isnt engaged either. The hammer is also covered so my body cant put pressure on it or get jabbed in the ribs from it.

Some of the pics make it look rough and not as nice as it is in person.Plus if someone sold me a holster with a clip that looked like that id laugh and send it back. But i figure i can cover that if needed, but it adds a bit more concealability if my shirt gets exposed.
If you see a major saftey flaw PLEASE point that out,if you just think its ugly and would laugh at me in my face keep that comment to yourself if you dont mind.
This also doesnt forgo me buying a good leather holster as this can be a bit rough against the skin with so much gun exposed. But for Lite carry with a T-shirt i dont think ive seen anything better IWB wise.

Looks cool!

The only thing I'd suggest is to consider designing in a "sight channel" to keep your front sight from hanging up on the draw and/or tearing the holster up through repeated use. If you look at the pictures on any/all holster maker's web pages, you'll see the channel I'm talking about.

Anyway, nice looking holster! Pleasantly minimalist.

I didnt even consider anything like that, its kind of too late to go back and add one.Luckily its only an issue dragging when drawing it,It wont hang up tho.
If i do make another ill add it and also this one is kind of hard to reholster since its so mimalist. Also the front sight has made its mark in my thigh.
But at least i feel good about my full sized 1911 is concealed under a t-shirt and i can finally carry it.
Im gonna try a more covered type soon and also add a good leather full cover IWB also.

shotgunjoel- I better get alot better at shaping Kydex to do that.Id say someone else has either made one like this or would just borrow the idea if they havent.
To do it in 1 piece took alot of trial and error and planning in my head. Its definetly small, lite and secure.Comfort was an afterthought tho.But at least the gun is fully padded and securely craddled.
