I bought my WASR10 today. It ships in a few and hopefully be here by this weekend or beginning of next... Im real excited and also happy I took the time to research the differences WASR10 vs AMD65. Thanks to sam and benEzra etc for all the help! I spent alot of time researching online and found out that the new Romanian WASR's are being made alot better, not really bottom dollar anymore but more mid range. The price, if anything, has gone down.
The biggest selling point for me was the availability of parts for AKs, the fact that the wood furniture can be replaced (although I dont know if Im going to do it anymore), and overall ruggedness to the gun. I gotta say I cant wait.
Now let this be said. Ive always wanted an M4. I spent alot of time number crunching and reading review/arguments on AK vs. AR
Ive seen alot of things out there from unhappy buyers or people who own both guns saying the M4's are gaining a poor rep for jams and breaks. I like the look of the weapon, I've fired my friends tactical M4 and it jammed (ejector problems). Since then he says its gotten progressively worse to the point where its jamming every 3 rounds and misfiring. He's an exmarine sniper, I gotta listen to him when he says he wouldnt trust his life to it on the battlefield. That weapon probably has several thousand rounds through it, maybe these guns go bad after awhile? So does his AK and it still runs well. That alone is a big sell point for me.
This being said Im still looking to buy an M4, but if I dont find one for under $800 Im not going to :banghead:
