I have investigated SASS, NCOWS, GAF, etc., but The American Plainsmen society allows competition use of post 1803 and réplica muzzle loading/breech loading rifles and pistols and cb revolvers through 1865. I will probably try these fellers as well as the GAF to start with. I have also been graciously invited to shoot GAF style at various local SASS and NCOWS clubs with a single or pair of bp revolvers only or in combination with a non lever repeater or single shot period style rifle, no shotgun needed.

PS both the Plainsmen and GAF shoot in period "plainsman/military uniform" Additionally, shooting in GAF is done skirmish style, closing the distance as you engage targets. You can carry or stage as many charged but uncapped revolvers and spare charged cylinders as needed, capping on the clock, and keep shooting until you've engaged all of the numerous targets per stage. I can even shoot my Le Mat in the persona of a French Foreign Legión ófficer during the French intervention in México in the 1860s or Franco-Prussian War with or without a Sharps carbine as a longarm.

Good for you Elhombre!!! Competition and competing is a lot of fun. But that group you describe sounds really fun. And how about some pics of the competition later on down the road. :)
