Hey guys, I have a back ordered set of AR series dies in 223/5.56. That said, does anyone know who has these in stock? Do I need the AR set or will the standard die work ok. I am loading both 223 and 5.56. The loads are for my stag model 2 in 5.56x45mm.

Thanks

Ok, thanks. I'm sure my ignorance for loading 5.56 is apparent here. Do I need a universal decapping die or will I be fine with the standard FL die? I have brass that needs to be decrimped/swaged. Will the crimped primer hurt the FL dies? I have no idea about reloading military brass. I have loaded pistol and rifle rounds for years.

I have been reloading GI 5.56 brass with standard RCBS .223 dies since 1970.

They work fine with crimped primers.

If you do not already own a set of dies, i would recommend the AR set or a small base sizing die especially if you are intending to buy once fired cases or pick up stuff at the range not fired in your rifle.

If you reload cases only fired in your rifle, a standard resize die will be fine.

It is a very low percentage chance that you would have chambering issues but it is a real bitch when you get them.

Of course, given the current state of reloading equipment inventories, you may only find a standard resize die. Just be aware of the issues and things to look as if on the off chance you encounter chambering problems.
