I need to get a belt designed for carrying a gun in IDPA. My leather belts are just too soft and sag or twist.

I have been looking at the Dillon Instructor belt and the Safariland velcro belt. I am a little confused about the Safariland belt, do I have to by the inner and outer belts separate?

All suggestions and pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John from MD

Another vote for the Wilderness belt. Check out their Web site. The belt is available in a stiffer configuration.

'Thanks guys.

Echo3Mike,

I have shot at Thurmont but don't know if I will continue. Henry's way of running the match takes all day and I live two hours away. I shoot alot at Sanners Lake and will continue there. I understand there is a place near Harrisburg and I may try that out as well.

Regards,

Milt Sparks make a very quaility belt and holster. I'm using it and a 55BN straight drop holster fore IDPA.

Lightening Arms usually has items in stock and their service is great plust they are a sponser here.

Haven't used the Dillon holster or belt but it should work fine as well.

Dillon's holsters are quite nice (especially for the money), but their leather belts are a bit stiff for my taste. The Galco contour belts are very comfortable, as are the ones sold through the Wilson store. The Wilderness belts...I have two, one for on duty and one for off ;)

You are not allowed to use a two-belt system like the Safariland in IDPA. Just one of those silly "we ain't IPSC" rules. IDPA ("I Don't Practice Anymore") was founded by a splinter group of IPSC malcontents, just read the rulebook and make note of all the IPSC bashing right in the IDPA rulebook. :)

You may know this already but just incase, I am pretty sure the inner-outer belt set up is not idpa legal, that would be "competition gear".

You might give http://www.bulmangunleather.com a try I have a few holsters from Josh and am very pleased. He makes a "thin" gun belt as well as the standard that are pre-curved. The thin belt is nice.

Sorry I missed Wakal's comment about the belt. And he was dead on the idpa bashing IPSC in the book. idpa has the little man complex, if they would be idpa and stop trying not to be IPSC then they could be IDPA.

Skunkabilly, speaking of belts I wear a 32 and missed out on the exotic black one so buy some more and post them for sale
:D

Tacblack LOL I **MIGHT** sell my Milt Sparks 1.5" sharky some day if I ever replace it with a 1.25" horsey.

PS eat more, skinny guys have no CDI, trust me. :neener:

Wakal. I Don't Practice Anymore? :D :D Man that is priceless. And I am an IDPA guy. :p

Actually, IDPA was founded by folks who were sick and tired of Irritable People Squabbling Constantly (IPSC).

That is a good one too. :)

IPSC/IDPA, hey we are all brothers. (except the older brother insists on wearing spandex tights and using holsters made out of clothes hangers). :p

And when we get old and crotchety...and can't see, shoot, or run...then we can play Grandpa's game...Cowboy Action Shooting :D

Irritable People Squabbling Constantly (IPSC).

I had not heard that one yet. But I will say its not the whole group that becomes "range lawyers" its just a couple at each club. Be it IPSC or IDPA if we can just get a place for them to all shoot together. I shoot both and find its helping me do better in the other. In the beginning of IDPA the clubs I shot at were worse then any IPSC club I had been to but they seemed to have settled down some. Now they both bitch about the same, I just try to avoid those few people. The ones that complain the most seem to never get better shooting.......humm

Back on topic, Buy more sell more Skunk, I just ordered my "thin" 1.25 brown belt from Josh at Bulman leather in 32 for us skinny people at least I can sell it to Skunk:D
