I use hoppe's 9 to clean my beretta 92FS and the directions say to leave some in the barrel after i clean it. My question is, should i wipe it out before i shoot it or is it ok to just leave it in there? Also, i noticed some chunks of crud in the barrel after shooting some winchester ammo from walmart yet very little soot. However when i shot Blazer brass, there was a lot of soot yet no chunky crud. Can anyone explain this?

Thanks.

Xiphur, the crud vs. soot is likely a difference in propellants used in the two brands. As for leaving oil in the bbl I'd swab it with an oiled patch, followed by a dry patch. That will remove excess oil, but still leave a good film in there to protect the bore.

Different propellents leave different things behind them after firing. Choose the one you like most. But Blazer and brass do they belong in the same sentence ? lol rick

I agree with ugaarguy. Swab it with a oiled patch followed by a dry patch. I don't like leaving anything but a light coat of oil in my barrel's.
