Why is it taking so long? I understand that the engineers need to do the math, IF they are going to launch a flair that could start a forest fire, but why can't someone try the balloon or RC Cox motor aircraft today?

I am currently working on the design of a carbon fiber mechanical arm that will reach 200 feet up. It is attached to a HIGHLY modified Jato 3.3 Nitro RC truck.

I think this solution will be ready soon.

If the mechanical arm does not work out, I was just going to build a ramp and Evil Knievel the car into the stack with a brick of firecrackers taped to the top of the truck.

They must have terrible engineers if all they came up with was a flaming arrow that actually worked!

Mannix, sadly your idea is far too simple to have merit.

This thread was started in September, I think the original reply time has passed for their decision, so what was the resolution to this situation/problem? Or has the gas been flowing flameless since September?

As to the R/C aircraft, if the gas in the area displaces the oxygen, would the engine still run in a no or low oxygen atmosphere? Would be a real bummer to start flying the aircraft toward the stack only to have the engine flameout and the aircraft come to rest in the no-man's zone without accomplishing it's mission. Then you'd have two issues to deal with, getting the aircraft out of the clear zone and still needing to ignite the flume.

So, anyway, what's happened since September??????
