I stopped in Cabelas today, I normally don't go to Cabelas but thats another story for a different thread.

My firearm fell out of the holster and onto the floor. :what:

I was in an isle by myself, no idea if anyone saw. I attracted more attention to myself when I yelled an expletive very loudly. I put the gun in my pocket and went to checkout. When asked how I was doing, I said "thoroughly embarrassed."

It was a P938; Condition 1.

My holster shifted.

See picture: IMG_3107.JPG

I am within my two week window to return for a refund. Needless today, this is going back to Crossbreed and I will get one where the clip is attached to the kydex.

Has this ever happened to you?

Why are "Yes" and "This only happens to idiots" mutually exclusive? :D

My gun has become "unconcealed" on quite a few occasions. Non anywhere that it would be an issue though. Usually reaching for something above me.

Just remember, don't try to catch a falling gun. Unless you're trying to be like Plaxico Burress. :)

I think many people don't put enough effort into insuring their carry method is effective, safe, and secure. There's a lot of "junk" equipment out there- not based on a cheap price, based on the fact that it doesn't work right. Check and test, check and test.

Personally, I would toss it in the trash, and buy a holster that has clips on both sides of the gun....

Years ago while backpacking, I took a slide down a hill for about 15 feet. I rolled onto my side and my 92 was dragged out of the holster.

It was a weird scenario that could happen to anyone. Nearly any holster without a retention strap would have failed in the situation I experienced. Lucky for me, I carry with my safety on when not using a retention strap.

I have to add my +1 to this. I have a whole box of garbage holsters that I purchased before learning the hard truth about them. There are some inexpensive options out there that are reliable but they are very far a few between. I don't go cheap anymore.

I've not lost the gun from the holster in public, but I have lost the holster from myself in public.

I drew on a charging pitbull and the holster came off my belt with the gun. I quickly flung it to the ground with my off hand. The dog's owner was the only witness (the situation was quickly and peacefully resolved.)

That holster had been worn inside my belt, but outside my pants. I haven't used it since.

Once I was at work about 5-6 hours into my shift sitting with my feet propped up when a coworker asked me "what's that peeking out of your pocket, you might want to look into it" Well it was a NAA Mini that I almost never carried I had been in a hurry when I left the house and forgot my normal carry gun so I tossed the NAA in my pocket when I stopped for gas, then I forgot about it. When I looked down it had already fallen out.

I'd have got fired if the wrong person would have seen it.

Sometimes in life crap just happens.

I have left my home with an unloaded gun once, but never had this happen.

I own a traditional IWB hybrid holster with two clips. I've never liked the look of the one clip versions. It just doesn't seem stable. Apparently some models aren't.

I jumped a fence while working years ago and fell onto a slope and took a tumble. My butt ended up above my head and my Glock 20 fell out of the holster (Comp-Tac Infidel). Thankfully no one was around. That taught me to add more retention to the screws.

Or at least get the one that has two screws in the clip, rather than one.
Agree with that!

I think many people don't put enough effort into insuring their carry method is effective, safe, and secure.

I always felt I did. I believe I did a post on these forums awhile back about my holster test. Running at a full sprint, wrestling with my dog, and summersaults. This thing passed my, apparently, not so good test.

What kind of bizarre looking "holster" is that thing?

Crossbreed Microclip, its not "cheap" at $60.00 but it isn't the most expensive either.

That taught me to add more retention to the screws.

The only way I could move the clip back into place was by loosening the screw; the tension on the screw was really tight, damn tight.

The reason I picked this holster was so I can wear form fitting shirts in the summer. I cant do this with my XD Mod 2 .45 or my Ruger SR9C. Additionally, I didn't want to pocket carry my LCP (in holster), I only like going to the LCP when I absolutely have to. So, I picked this micro clip holster setup for my P938.

Crossbreed holsters are great. You just need a model with clips on both sides, the way it should be. Idk what the purpose of a single clip is.

And yeah, I have exposed my gun from conceilment in my Crossbreed holster. Always secure though. I am 6'4. Just about any time I raise my arms up most shirts come above my belt line. No big deal. Open or conceiled is basically the same thing here.

I chose Crossbreed because I do have one of their holsters

Most, if not all, double clipped holsters have lot of extra material on each side of the firearm when used with a p938. That extra material tends to not fold around my body well and prints when wearing form fitting shirts.

The Micro clip didn't have that problem; but came with a much worse problem.

The Crossbreed Supertuck I have for my SR9C, somehow, after 5 years of carrying the SR9C daily, developed a small crack/tear in the kydex near one of the rivets. I sent into to crossbreed for repair and they sent me a new one.

Actually happened today, we were moving a 400lb roll of carpet, as you can imagine I was doing things I normally wouldn't (trying to not get run over by a 400lb roll of carpet coming down a stairs to be exact) and my BUG jumped the holster and came loose in my tucked dress shirt. Nobody saw, was just me and the other guy, so I holstered it and we made another attempt to move the roll to where it needed to go. I guess technically mine was never visible, but it was unsecured for the moment which wasn't cool at all.

I INTENTIONALLY do not use Crossbreed for several reasons. This is just another one.

Since switching to my WH holster, no my gun has not fallen out. Using cheaper nylon holsters from Blackhawk or Uncle Mike's, it has almost fallen out from the belt clip rolling on my belt and almost falling. My wife, however, has dropped her NAA and her Bodyguard pistols while using the bathroom. She also uses cheap and generic holsters.

I've left home with an empty holster, but never emptied a holster after leaving.

I have two Crossbreed holsters... Supertuck and Minituck. Both have served well. However, my most expensive holster, a High Noon Snapper, has left me with a dangling gun several times when the snaps popped loose. That holster has been retired.

I have a policy with IWB belt holsters. They must have at least two points of attachment. I have never liked the single clip holster design. I like to spread the weight of the gun around the belt more. The only exception is my kydex paddle holster for OWB carry.

The closest I came to having a gun work its way out of a holster happened several years ago. I was carrying a Ruger LCP in a belly band holster. I noticed after being in a sitting position for a while that it was not in the same place it was when I holstered in the morning. Turns out it was working its way upward but I caught it before it fell out. I added an elastic retention strap with Velcro and it worked much better after that.

I know what you mean, I have always carried double stacks that needed the weight distribution.

The p938 is insanely light and small for a metal frame 9, 1.35 # with 7+1.

Compared to 2.35# with the XD Mod.2 45

Compared to 2.01# with the SR9C.

Now I know its no LCP at 0.76#, but the 938 has a metal frame, an extra round, and is 9mm.

I guess what I am trying to say is, its not that heavy.

I make my own holsters, and I make them so you can turn them upside down and shake them and the gun won't come out.

The secret is in the fit. Make the holster so tight the gun WON'T go in, then soak the holster in warm water until it's floppy. Put the gun in a plastic bag (or use a Blue Gun) and FORCE it into the holster, and let it dry. Then rub Snow Seal into the holster, inside and out.

I have accidentally tossed a gun out on the floor before, but that was back when I thought it was O.K. to just tuck it in my belt "Mexican Style".

Come to think of it, I also managed to scrape up a nice little colt snubbie that was in my boot, too.

Since I started using "Real" holsters, I haven't even come close to tossing one.

I don't like the clips at all. While they are convenient, they make the thing fatter and I'm afraid they will come loose like yours did.

I like loops.

This is a BladeTec Kydex "Nano" holster.

It's comfortable, secure, and it draws like lightning

It doesn't really add any width to the gun, either.

I have a couple of these, and really like them. You might want to give it a try.
