I went over to ALCO Targets in Duarte, Ca. to pick up an order of paper targets for the office.

While I was there, I saw this set up in their shop that I just had to buy.

Since I have several other single plate stands, a centerfire dueling tree (with another set of rimfire paddles) and separate “H” target stands for 1”x2” slats used for stapling cardboard and paper targets to, this combo will go well with my set up.

I’ll grab some taller 1x2’s for the middle, these are just for reference.

The base is adjustable for width. I will say it’s not the heaviest of bases, so it will need some weight on it to keep it from rocking as the paddles are being swung. (My dueling tree base weighs a LOT compared to this one.) This 2x4 and 1x2 combo base was $66 bucks.

The best part is the “hostage” paddle behind the front plate on both sides. You can put scaled-down IPSC plates in front or various circle ones like this plate I have. The paddles are $38 each.

Simple 2x4’s cut to whatever size you want holds the caps with the plate hook and paddle ring. The caps are $40 each.

The cost with tax was about $255 for everything but the 8” front plates, I already had those. They also offer single plate/paddle, three plate/paddle and five plate/paddle base options as well as some for 4x4 post set ups, too.

When I finally get a chance to escape to the desert to try this out I’ll post about how it worked out.

Stay safe.

What is the ~ distance/drive time to the store from the I-15 at the bottom west side of the Cajon Pass?
Their shipping costs are astronomical!

"I will say it’s not the heaviest of bases, so it will need some weight on it to keep it from rocking as the paddles are being swung"

I have found that drilling holes on the end of all the legs and using 10"-12" spikes works much better than stacking on rocks even with only 25% of spike driven into the ground (the Mojave is a rocky and windy place!) and the spikes come out pretty easy no matter how far you can hammer them in.

They are basically at the intersection of the 210 and 605 freeways in Duarte. From I-15 and 215 split at the bottom of Cajon Pass it’s roughly 40 Miles (?) towards Pasadena. Drive time, as always down here, depends on the time of day.

I will say at 0945 AM I made it from the Riverside area to Duarte, bought the stuff and made it back in under two hours.

There are some holes in two of the legs. I’ll take your suggestion and drill two more for camp spikes.

Stay safe.
