Here in Illinois we elect the Supreme Court Justices. Down here in Southern Illinois there is a brutal fight going on between the republican Lloyd Karimeier and Democrat Gordon Maag.

Tort Reform is the big issue. But both candidates are trying to outdo each other in their support for the second amendment. One of Maag's radio ads accuses Karimeier of not being a second amendment supporter because he only recently joined the NRA while Maag has been a life member for years.

Yesterdays mail brought me an orange card that is definately designed to look like an NRA/ILA election alert. In the upper left hand corner there is the eagle from the NRA logo. Not the complete logo, just the eagle. On the back, it says; ELECTION ALERT in half inch bold letters. It says that "Judge Gordon Maag is endorsed by the NRA with an "A" rating........His opponent will not protect your Second Amendment rights or Gun Owner's rights."

I checked the current American Rifleman and they don't have any endorsments for judical candidates listed. I went to http://www.nrapvf.org/Elections/Zip.aspx?zip5=62807&zip4=1732 and they don't list any endorsments for judicial candidates either. But I did receive an NRA endorsment for 2 appellate court justices in the mail about 2 weeks ago.

The spoofed endorsement is obviously designed to look like the real one.

You would think these two were running for president if you could hear the ads radio ads. One is accusing the other of being soft on child molesters, the other is suppossedly a pawn of the trial lawyers.....But they seem to be fighting to out do each other on gun rights....

I agree with the fraud assessment. From your description, it appears they were trying very hard to make you believe this came from NRA/ILA without actually putting the logo on it.

Karimeier won the election. It was quite possibly the dirtiest judicial election in modern times.
