Well I just checked the mail, junk,,junk,,bill, bill,,State Police.

I opened it up and low-n-behold my CCW! :D Time to start looking for a good Holster for this little skinny guy. lol...

Now, can I laminate it so the drooling won't hurt it? :p

Thanks Ya'll.
It came a lot quicker than I thought it would. I was expecting it around the end of December as what everyone else told me.

I guess I'm just Special,,, yeah that's it... LOL.

congrats and welcome to the world of CCW
IF you got the gun , find the holster and you are set

congratulations! now start carrying. everywhere. always. when it gets uncofortable think about buying a different gun or holster but don't stop carrying.

Now, can I laminate it so the drooling won't hurt it?

i guess we're pretty high class in az; mine was laminated at no extra cost to me (besides the $50 processing fee)

Well I might have to go and find a smaller gun than what I have. Ruger P345, but I really like this gun. Shoots Really well for me.

chopinbloc Yours came laminated? WOW,,, somehow I don't feel special anymore. LOL!!!!!! :)

Arkie

No doubt you'll receive many suggestions regarding an alternative to your current carry weapon.

Here's mine: KAHR P9..KAHR ARMS (you can Google up their web site). This is a very thin 9mm that holds 7 soft tipped, jacketed hollow points in the mag that comes from the factory. I have a 2nd mag that holds 8. Perfect for Concealed Carry.

The KAHR works nicely for me. Others will have suggestions you'll want to check out as well.

I've discovered a wealth of info @THR, and never cease to be amazed at the willingness of people to share their expertise. I'm talking folks who have spent their lives shooting firearms, repairing them and staying current with laws that effect all of us with CCW's.

Take Care

Laminate? Dang, you're still in the stone age there. Ours are made like credit cards. Geez, I thought New Mexico was backwards. ;)

Congrats, and remember that virtually no one else will be as aware that you are carrying than you are. Also keep in mind which side your carry piece is on when you reach for the top shelf.

Ain't that the truth!

Interesting that they mail CCW's to you. Here in CO, we pick them up personally at the sheriff's office. I prefer it that way, since mail theft is ever present, regardless of locale.

I have a pet peeve about guns.
It's got to have a hammer. I guess I should buy one that doesn't and see if I like it. Annnnnd I'm left handed so it has to have an ambidextrous safety on it too.
Annnnnnnnnd I want a 45.

Am I being too picky? :)

pretty soon your p345 will work fine under the jacket winter is coming.theres nothing wrong with a p345 a aquaintence of mine had 1 and the 2 thugs who wanted a peice of him changed their minds.

however when summer comes you will probably learn the merits of a smaller gun.i always figured the glock26 in my pocket beat the glock 17 id leave home when its insane to wear a cover garment.

loose cannon That's what I was thinking this morning when I stepped outside to my truck after work and the cold wind went through my shirt. brrrrrrrr... lol...

I was thinking of looking for a smaller gun for a Christmas Present for meeeeee... :)

AirForceShooter Yep, works for me too. :)

MNgoldenbear oh yea, shhhhhhhh,, mum's the word. :)

Thanks Ya'll and I will try to stay as safe as I can. I already have become more aware of my surroundings than most people I have seen walking around.

Congrats!
The ones here in SC look like a credit card. And they use the same picture that is on our driver license. Heck, the CWP looks very similar to our driver license.
Hope you find which guns work best for you to carry with.

Prefer smaller, myself, even in winter. For some reason in the northeast, some building owners like to have the heat up to 80 degrees or so in the winter, so if you're inside, you either roast to death in the concealing clothing, or have something showing that is bound to "alarm" some fearful-sheep citizen. :(

CCW

Arkie - Congrats. If I recall correctly mine came much sooner than anticipated too. Maybe there are two of us that are special in Arkansas!
Actually the State Police are doing a much better job at this point. My renewal only took about 8 days to receive. Glad to hear a fellow Arkie is packing, I wish more would. Remember, Arkansas has several places that are off limits to CCW. Keep those in mind and you'll be fine. Shoot well.

Love This Cold Weather

Makes Concealed Carry so much easier and, in my case, allows me to tote my beloved S&W .357 Model 65 - 3 (K frame) vintage '81!

I can't remember who suggested I get a jar of "Mother's Mag Polish" to spiff her up..but I'm grateful! Man, the stuff works like a charm. Rather than buy new ones, I soaked the Packmyer (sp?) grips that came with her (purchased her in '87) in hot water and soap, incorporated a little detail scrubbing with a tooth brush, and the weapon is just beautiful. If I can find an affordable digital camera with software that's compatable with iMac OS 9 I'll post a photo.

Take Care, Arkie. You see things in a different perspective with a CCW. The price should be lowered so more folks can afford one.

Arkie. You know, the Arkansas State Police got my renewal ccw back to me in what I thought was record time. Kudos to them! And I don't know why they are not laminated. I just took mine to Kinkos and two minutes later it had a nice plastic weatherproof coat on it. Criminals beware!
