to compliment my two (soon to be three maybe) .357 revolvers. I'm teetering on the edge. Anyone care to talk me into it?

"Anyone care to talk me into it?"

Sure! :)

A .357 lever action rifle, preferably a Marlin, is a great companion gun to your .357 revolvers. I have the .44 magnum version and like it a lot. All the comments I have heard about the smaller caliber have been positive; easy and accurate to shoot.

Now, go forth and purchase.

The Marlin, chambered in 357, is a great rifle. I've used one for decades as the stepping stone from 22's up into large rifles when teaching others to shoot. 38's are very mild in this gun, and even full-house 357's are still pleasant to shoot. The gun will pack enough punch up to 100 yards to take medium sized game up to deer. The full top on the receiver lends itself to scope mounting. The gun really shines as a quick brush gun with ghost ring or peep sights. They'll carry enough ammo at one time for a whole day's hunting. They accurate enough for most chores. I believe the Marlin is a bit heavier than the Winchester, but thelight weight, flat sides, and general profile make it easy to carry while stalking. Not to mention very easy to reload for, particularly if you already have revolvers chambered for the same round.

Need I go on? If you were in our vicinity, I'd give you a chance to shoot mine and you'd probably fall in love with it. :)

They're great guns. I had a Winchester 94 .357, though I'd recommend you go with the Marlin.

The new production "rack grade" Winchesters leave much to be desired. The triggers are spring loaded, and thus have this slack in them by design. The open sights aren't great, and the lever lockup isn't that nice either (again, to facilitate use of another annoyingly-designed safety feature, much like the bad trigger).

The Marlins don't seem to have these problems. Their triggers, while they aren't great, don't have a length of pull like a double action revolver in them, and the lever locks up nicely into the receiver.

A 357MAG LEVERGUN IS THE FINEST MEDIUM BORE LIGHT CARBINE

YOU CAN OWN.
Currently I own a MARLIN, ROSSI, and a BROWNING in 357mag. All are excellent carbines but of the three the BROWNING is by far the snootiest as to its' diet and will not feed 38SPECIAL ammunition.
The ROSSI is a SS version and is my truck gun. You don't get there without delivering the goods.
The MARLIN is at home loaded as we speak and is a peach of a fine carbine.
LIFE IS NOT AS GOOD AS WHEN YOU OWN AND SHOOT 357MAG CARBINES, BOYS.
