I was only planned on coming home with a SR-556, but the M&P 15-22 called to me. The rest is history.

Can't wait to get out to the range.

yup.. "unfortunately" happens to me pretty often... just today I managed to come home with a new, to me, VEPR AK... did I need it? Not at all. BUT, I can justify whatever I must... just kept asking myself... when I will I come across another one of these?

as to the M&P 15-22, great cheap practice while maintaining consistency in the platform, a great starter rifle for any beginner, and well, when the varmint revolution starts you will be leaps and bounds ahead anyone foolish enough to not have gotten one of these for themselves.....:D

Welcome to the Vepr club... can't argue with a factory AK that can shoot 1 MOA out of the box.

My only regret is I didn't buy another one when they were $500...

Someone is in trouble.

My old lady would be too angry to speak with me if I did that. After she cooled down she would ask me which one I got for her.

Looks like a good day to me.:)

I'm very interested in how the SR-556 turns out. I haven't heard much about it other than that the accessories it comes with probably cost more than the gun. Tell us how it holds up.

Guess I'm in the club too...

Came back from an extended training period and had accrued a little bit in my "slush fund". Of course, I call it the gun fund but that's merely semantics. Long story short, I'm now one shotgun and 4 AK's richer. Why 4? Still pondering that myself but I figure if nothing else they make great trading pieces. Wife just sighs...maybe I'll camo one in pink for her as a peace offering....Enjoy!

thankfully the whole wife aspect doesn't apply here and a pre nup is about the only reason why I get to enjoy what is mine.

Full range report on both once the weather gets better.

Those bastards at the gun store. First they have everything you want, then... they let you touch them. I hate that!!! Funny how all common sense leaves you and total disregard for your budget takes over. And of course the last minute justification your mind seems to come up with. I ordered a .458 SOCOM today. Who knows how long it will take to get here, but I found the money and ordered it. How do they hook us like that??? And I couldn't be happier. Cheers to you and your new toys. Good to be men, isn't it.

Great choice on the 15/22 and may i give you some summed up advice as an owner of one myself.

Do NOT shoot any Remington ammo of any sorts threw this gun, Out of battery discharges have been proven especially with this ammo. This info came straight from S&W. It was worse when the gun was new on the market, But S&W is quickly updating the gun with fixs.

Take your time loading the mags one round at a time and watch to make sure they are staggered properly. If not you will get stove pipes but with a live round mangled in the mag.

The gun LOVES Federal bulk of any sort, Great since Walmart always has it now.
Its even decently accurate with it. I can do 2" groups at 50 yards wich is good with bulk ammo and a semi auto.

Subsonic ammo is your friend for accuracy. My 15/22 can do 1" and sub 1" 3 round groups with subsonic ammo at 50 yards.
1" was with Aguila SniperSubSonic 60gr
Sub 1" was with CCI subsonic hollow points.
I have more ammo to test and further distances yet so it could get better or worse, But i plan to get the best results i can at 100 yards which wont be easy.

The gun also responds well to the 15 minute trigger job and lightens the pull too around 4lbs

Here is a link to the S&W forums with a 15/22 section just for this gun.

I cant think of any more tips.

If you have any questions you can pm me anytime and i can either give an answer or tell you who can.

I love mine and besides a few jambs due to me loading the mags in a hurry its been flawless.

I hate it when that happens. I'm shopping for another gun safe and a place to put it.
LOL I promised I wouldn't buy another gun when I filled the gun rack. Eventually I was buying direct from the gun-rack manufacturer...
:(

How does it go?
My name is Al and...

that is awesome, and congrats, thanks for posting, you got some good ones, if you don't mind how mush did the ruger run you? i look foward to hearing how it runs when you get to the range.
