Hah. no, It's someone I know.. His rifle that he used to shoot rats at a pig farm years ago, early-mid 60's.

It's a .22.

It might be a Glenfield, Winchester or something else.

WHAT DOES IT SAY ON THE BARREL ?

I think that is the Winchester 190. I beleive the 290 had the stock with the impressed checkering.

A 190 was the first gun I bought. I got mine at K-Mart for $48.00 OTD with a cheap rimfire scope. Mine developed the common problem those rifles had. The barrel would move foward and the gun would start miss firing. Its a simple fix. Mine was pretty accurate. I wish I still had it.

I looked on GB for a 190-290 winchester. They have both 290s with a checkered walnut and a 290 with a plain stock. I couldn't find a 22 mag semi-auto listed.

To find the model # should be as simple as reading it off the side of the barrel. I didn't know they even made a semi 22 mag version of that gun. I have a lever action 22 mag version sold by Sears and labeled a model 5. IIRC the winchester version is labeled a model 255.

By the way what is wrapped or taped around the forearm/ receiver junction? If there is a gap between the forearm and receiver then the gun probably has the misfire problem I wrote about earlier.

Thanks for the info guys.. Great job as usual! :) I don't have access to the firearm, or speak to the gentleman very often neither, he is my friend's father's father. Just had this picture and was wondering. (yes I'm a young man here ;))
