ID this Target..?

This weekend at an estate sale of a retired police officer I picked up some interesting vintage shooting memorabilia.

This however, I am not familiar with, it was folded up and when purchased I thought it was a vintage BG target, but after unfolding it, I am slightly perplexed

From what I have found researching it is a Stoeger Police Training target, but they generally have rings like the average target and this one has lines designating specific numbers (points) I do not realize understand the number designations

I have included an image of an add for the target I found online.

Its just shy of 3'x4'

Anyone familiar with it, I would love some info.
Considering framing it for my office.

Sorry, no clue about the markings but very interesting piece, definitely a fun thing to have framed and up on the wall.
 
Its a target used years ago for academy students. When you hit the numbered areas, those were your total points. I saw these on many TV cop programs years ago, vintage targets, frame and keep!
 
Copy them, and sell them at gun shows. Talk about a hot seller. Heck I'd buy some.

That doesnt make sense to me. So am I trying to get the lowest score possible then? Because shooting them in the toes would not seem to be the most beneficial practice technique.

I have a feeling people are cheap, and the cost associated with copying a 3foot x 4foot target would not be inexpensive.
 
Is there a breakdown of what each number means? % Chance of stop, etc?

Or just basically going from the lowest possible score.
 
Just a guess, but it might be played like a dart game. Each competitor starts with x-points and works their way down by shooting.

Shots that hit your side count for (or against) you.

Like I said, just a guess.
 
Though I can see how the 2nd target could be accurately graded, I haven't a clue how anyone could score that first target in a way that would make any sense.
 
That might be some type of training diagram for a pat down. start at the top and be sure to hit all those points???
 
I had not thought of it as anything but a possible shooting target. That's an interesting point psyork22
 
Well Asian arts were not very popular in the States way back when that was made but it sure does resemble my pressure point target for martial arts. All are key target points for causing severe debilitating pain when struck properly.

Wouldn't it be better to disarm him first? That's a pistol in his hand!
 
it goes up to 17.. And alot of handguns have a 17rd extended magazine, right? so obviously you're supposed to hit each point once!
