Is this die a one size fit most or specific to caliber? I have Lyman true line Jr 6.5 Japanese sizing and bullet seater die and would like to get the 310 tong tool to load ammo.

Loading dies for the most part are caliber specific. In your case they are caliber specific, the only thing you can load with 6.5mm Jap dies is 6.5mm Jap ammunition. I am guessing that is what you are asking? This is true of sizing and seating dies.
If you want to load another caliber you get sizing and seating dies specific to the new caliber.
I only say "for the most part" because there are dies like 44 Mag/44 Special or 357 Mag/38 Special where multiple cartridges can be loaded with a single die set but keep in mind the ones I mentioned 44 and 38 each use the same bullet diameters.
Not sure what this means:
would like to get the 310 tong tool to load ammo.

The priming die I was referring to is specific to Ideal 310 handpress it look like a half expose die body that you slide the case into and primed the case. It is pretty neat because I don't need the seperate hand priming tool and shell holder. The die set in question will not fit modern press but the old Ideal 310 tong tool.

I would suggest you buy a real reloading press, and real reloading does.

The Lyman 310 tool is all but obsolete now, and is only available in a very few rimmed-rifle & handgun calibers.

The priming die is no longer made for bottle-neck rimless calibers like the 6.5 you want to load for.

And the 310 tool cannot Full-Length size a bottleneck case anyway.

Move on and get modern reloading equipment that will do what you need to do.

The 310 tool won't do it.

They may have made 6.5 Jap dies for 310 at some point.

The priming is usually common to a couple of calibers (e.g. I can use the same one for 7mm mauser, 30-06, 308). You might get by with a 220 Swift seating die (it would be the same shellholder for standard dies anyhow).

I like the 310 tools and still use them for some calibers and situations.

Yes, the priming die is mostly caliber specific, but there may be a number of other calibers that will work. Shell bases are often common among many different calibers.

Look at the dimensional data and see if its the same as the 30-06 class, or as 30 cal said, compare it to 220 swift.

I bought a box of assorted 310/Truline dies, maybe 5 or 6 calibers worth ($40 seemed like a fair price). They were for the Truline press, but with just the addition of priming dies, I had a number of usable die sets for 310 handles. They all took the common 30-06 base size, which Lyman still makes, and they were pretty reasonable. The individual dies in various calibers are available on ebay and other places. Theres a place that specializes in 310 stuff, but after the current owner bought the business a few years ago, prices about doubled from the previous owners prices.

For you guys that dont care for the 310/Trueline dies, let me know what you have, I like them and will pay shipping and a reasonable offer if its anything I can use, like a 348 handle.

I actually like priming with the 310 priming die for low volume loading. I also like the M type expander. I use my 30-30 set to load my extra-light loads.

Thank every one for great in put . I learn quite a great deal here. If this all work out I will have portable reloading tool smaller than my Lee handpress.

Thats one of the things I like most about the 310 tools, the portability. When I travel and stay gone a while I take 310 tool dies in the calibers I take to shoot while gone. I also throw in the sizing die from the regular bench press die set (I can generally find somewhere to use a bench press to size if needed). You can find full length Lyman tap-in size dies in many calibers also, I have a few different calibers of the Lyman full length size dies meant for use with the 310 sets.

310 tool, lee powder measure set, bullet mould(s), some odd special use bullets like round balls, and I can stay shooting while away.
