Alright gun gurus,

Here's your chance to impress us (well actually, just to impress me). I picked up an oddball cartridge at the gun show this past weekend. It was labeled miscorrectly so I only paid a buck for it. I know it's worth more than that, as it's a patched bullet...

Anyway, the guy selling it didn't know what it was....several people had come by that day and nobody could figure out what it was.

Here's what I do know.

Complete cartridge weight: 632.3 grns
Case mouth exterior diameter: .480"
Case length: 1.990"
Headstamp is "EP" at the 12 o'clock position and "05" at the 6 o'clock position.

The case is filled, but I don't know with what..I'm assuming blackpowder at this point...I will tell ya that there isn't much room inside the case...you can barely hear it when you shake it.

Just for comparison purposes, there is a 300 WSM on the left and a .45-70 on the right.

Good Luck.

I would want a couple of other measurements to be sure but my first guess is a 11mm Belgian Albini.

critical dimensional data:

Bullet dia: .435
neck dia: .472
shoulder dia: .535
base dia: .580
rim dia: .678
Case length: 2.00
cartridge length: 2.6
primer: berdan

another possibility is a 40-90 Bullard, but the case should be 2.04" and it just doesn't look right in the shoulder.

Damn't man...you weren't supposed to get it on the first try! :p

In flipping through my Cartridges of the World, it does appear as if you're correct.

The following specs are correct also:

neck dia: .472
shoulder dia: .535
base dia: .580
rim dia: .678

Case length is a little off, and I'm not sure why...but I'm measuring 1.990.
