Identifying Federal Match Brass

Can someone tell me if there is a way to identify Federal GMM brass vs standard Federal brass? I am specifically wanting to know about .308. I have a good many FC cases and notice that some have a gold primer and others have a silver primer that I suspect is a 210M.

Maybe not. I have heard Federal 223 is not too good, unless it is GMM. Trying to sort this out before I prep a new batch.

It has a better external finish. Good luck trying to distinguish it after firing. It's the same brass without any cosmetic flaws. BFD.

I have some GMM brass that I got from a couple of shooters. I watched it go straight from the box, into the rifle, then back into the box. I asked if I could have it, and they let me.

It is not marked any different than any other Federal brass.

The primer pocket in large letter headstamped Fed loosens up very quickly ... small letter lasts longer. None of it's as good as other available brands...the pocket virtually always lets go before any cracks or splits occur.

I have been using a few hundred 30-06 federal brass pieces for about 5 years now and the primer pockets are fine.

Just compared my 300WM FGMM to some Federal standard rounds, and the Gold has a red Primer sealent and the stanard has a blue primer sealent,

There is no difference in the brass, not like in the old days of nickel plated match brass.

Every GMM case I've seen has had silver primers. I've had great luck reloading it, and stopped counting after 10 firings.

I've shot the GM stuff for years. I have encountered silver and brass colored primers. It shocked me at first but results on the target were the same. I believe all you might see is that the GM stuff seems more consistent in weight. YMMV.
