Does IDPA regulate use of grip tape (skateboard tape, or similar)? This may sound strange to some, but I put some tape on my CZ 75 where my weak hand thumb rests on the frame, as well as on the front and backstrap (I might add some under the trigger guard too). I'm planning to try my first IDPA match whenever the next one rolls around, and I'm curious if the extra tape on the gun will be some sort of violation.

Thanks - Brad

You'll be fine. "Change of grips" is specifically allowed per the rules, and grip tape falls under that, as far as I know.

I have tape on my Springfield, never been a problem.

From page 10 of the LGB:

INCLUSIVE list of permitted modifications: (If it's not on this list, it can't be
used in Defensive Pistol competition.)
• Change of sights to another conventional notch and post type
• Change of grips to another style or material that is similar to factory
configuration (no weighted grips)
• Slip-on grip sock and/or skateboard tape
• Action work to enhance trigger pull as long as safety is maintained
• Reliability work to enhance feeding and ejection
• Internal accuracy work to include replacement of barrel with one of
factory configuration
• Custom finishes

Emphasis added. This is for SSP, but all divisions have similar verbiage.
