Just looking for peoples opinion on the color of their leather that they perfer for IDPA. As I'm just getting into this sport, I really don't want to lay out the big bucks for the wrong stuff. I've narrowed down the holster that I'm about to order, but am getting hung up on the color.

Wrong stuff? Maybe I'm confused. I thought IDPA was about some practical training with your carry type weapon, not race guns with flashy colors and laser sights?

You should pick out whatever color you like best and will conceal best with what you generally wear when you carry. There aren't any points taken off your score for the "wrong color."

We don't give style points, get what you like.
Before getting into Kydex, I had leather holsters in black, dark brown, light brown, and kind of an oxblood red-brown shade.
After getting into Kydex, I have stuck to black except for one brown holster and one tan with black belt loop. Which blends in well with my usual khaki pants and black belt. Now all I need is some plaid pistol grips to chamelion with my shirt.

Black goes with everything. And that's the only color that Blackhawk made my holster in.

It was bound to happen. Everyday clothing camo. Maybe you could get a sleeve for the grip.
